Sycamore Drive In — Restaurant in Monticello

Poor service. I was by myself and had a larger order with two entrees and three desserts, and I asked for them to go. First, they give me the deserts with no lids. When I asked for a lid, they gave me two lids with giant holes in the middle that didn’t even fit. He then brings me one lid for my dessert that I requested in the first place, but for some reason doesn’t bring me a second one. I then had to ask for a bag to carry it all myself. The girl at the register was an example of poor customer service, asking “is that it?” before I could finish my order.

The worst part is the adults were host standing in the back doing nothing to help.

For spending $49, this was a very our experience and shows no care for the customer experience.

Came back the next night, at 8:58 no less, and they had a long line. I feel for that staff. The same girl from the night before provided great service, and clarified what I meant by “to go”. That’s what has always kept us coming back, and still will. Good luck with this DT...

Good product but service was less than satisfactory on 2 of the 4 occasions I was there. Pulled in at 930 pm bc Google said they were open until 10 and the Open sign was facing out. A middle aged man answered the window "Yeah?". "Oh, are you closed?" "Well yeah we close at 9" in a tone that implied that it was an idiotic question.

The next day we drove up as we were leaving town. I asked for a small cup with "just a little vanilla and a little chocolate for my 3 yr old". Something they had made on 2 other occasions just days before for the small serving price. I was told the manager said they "no longer do that". I was left with the option of purchasing a medium just to fulfill a 1/2 and 1/2 request. I was delivered a small cup with exactly what I ordered. I didn't mind paying a little extra but on prinicple it made for a bad experience. The custard is good and at least half the staff was very pleasant but it seams management can use a lesson in pleasantry...

We had never been here before and were hoping to make it our new favorite ice cream spot close to home.. I was less than impressed. The girl who took our order was nice and was able to answer my questions about menu items. The girl on the other end where we picked up our choices was rude and seemed like she could care less because it was close to closing time. We ended up getting a strawberry shake and a hot turtle. The shake seemed small for the price and my turtle sundae was alright, not horrible but not spectacular. We may go back and try again on another day but it...
