Bluecorn Café & Mercantile is truly one of the best places to visit in Montrose, Colorado — whether you’re looking for a cozy café, a delicious breakfast spot, or a unique local shopping experience.
I stopped in for breakfast and had the avocado toast, which was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The coffee was honestly some of the best coffee I’ve ever had — rich, smooth, and incredibly fresh. The perfect go-to spot for coffee and breakfast in Montrose.
The café is connected to a charming mercantile shop filled with handmade candles, artisan pottery, kitchen tools, and local specialty foods. It’s the perfect place to find gifts or just treat yourself to something unique and locally made.
One of the coolest features? You can actually watch them pour and craft candles in their on-site factory — such a rare and special experience. It adds a creative, authentic touch to the entire visit.
There’s plenty of seating and it’s a great spot to open your laptop and get some work done while enjoying the view and people-watching. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm, and welcoming — everything you want in a local café.
If you’re looking for the best breakfast in Montrose, best coffee shop with WiFi, or the best locally-owned store for artisan shopping, Bluecorn Café & Mercantile is a must-visit. A true hidden gem in...
Read moreI truly hope to return soon so I can update this review to a full 5 stars, because the store itself is absolutely wonderful. Julianna was incredibly helpful and attentive in finding everything I needed, and Adrianna prepared the most beautiful and delicious latte. I also ordered the avocado toast, which was excellent and easily deserving of 5 stars.
My only concern was with two other baristas I interacted with. The warm, welcoming atmosphere I initially experienced shifted once I went to place my order. When I asked questions about the menu, the responses felt rushed and dismissive, and when I asked for their opinions on certain items, I was met with shrugs rather than genuine engagement. It left me feeling as though I was being hurried through the process rather than welcomed.
That said, the barista who crafted my drink was very kind, smiling often and showing the level of hospitality I had hoped for throughout. With a bit more customer service training for the younger staff, I believe this location has the potential to consistently provide the exceptional experience that matches its food, drinks,...
Read moreI was so excited to try the food at Bluecorn after reading the reviews, but sadly I was very disappointed with my meal. It’s a dimly lit space filled with comfortable seating and large glass windows to watch the adjacent candle-making assembly line. You can also browse and purchase locally handcrafted items ranging from jewelry to candles. I ordered the Power Salad. Beautiful display of food, however the radishes looked pre-cut as if they had been sitting in the fridge, there was no taste or freshness to the lettuce, and the goddess dressing had absolutely no flavor. I wish I could have liked this, but it definitely needs some improvements to the flavor profile and freshness of ingredients. I also ordered the grilled cheese which I would recommend to other customers. It came with a side of coleslaw and was flavorful and hot. Lastly, it may be work mentioning that the food items are extremely overpriced. Paying $14 for an average salad is a bit too much...
