UPDATE: I forwarded the lost email, along with a new email, directly to the owner of Camp Robber, Kim Volk, and was finally able to speak with her. It was a very pleasant conversation, not rushed. I appreciated her time and personal attention very much. She rendered the kind of customer service that goes above and beyond, and that restores the faith of an "old lady" like me who remembers the days of customer service being of utmost importance. I am compelled to change my rating based on my first experience, the phone conversation with Kim, and her follow-up. We are very much looking forward to giving Camp Robber another try.
August, 2023 I raved about this place to my son because I had one good experience there for breakfast a few years back. This time was completely different and ruined any memory of the first visit. I was so embarrassed that I took someone there!
We ate at the restaurant out on the patio and ordered extra food to go. Our wait times were completely unacceptable. People that arrived after us were served before us. The extra food that we had ordered to go, well in advance, seemed like it was never going to come. We sat there waiting for what seemed like forever after we finished eating.
Our waitress was ridiculously inattentive and unprofessional. She did not even check on us or refill our water. We had to ask other waitresses and busing staff to help us. We could not figure out what the problem was. We sat there and watched as waiters and waitresses ran back and forth checking on the patrons at their tables and making sure the people had everything they needed while we were being neglected.
I read other negative reviews that were answered by the owner asking people to please contact them directly rather than post a negative reviews, so I did. I contacted them via email a year ago. I never got a response. So now I am posting this well-earned, well-deserved, negative review.
The only reason that our dining experience was not completely horrible was the people around us out on the patio. The other customers were very friendly, and we had good conversations with them. That saved the atmosphere.
But we were hungry, tired of waiting, and very confused by the horrible...
Read moreI love it when things don't go as planned... well sometimes. Today was one of those days.
We were headed to Grand Junction for the Static-X concert at the Mesa Theater when everyone in the car seemed to get hungry simultaneously and discussion of where to eat ensued. We settled on two places, one after another, but both were closed. Luckily the third choice was open and we set course for Camp Robber.
It was easy to tell early in our visit that they had something going at this place simply by reading the menu. It took some time to narrow the options down but we did so over a medley of salsa/guacamole/queso and chips that were delicious while not being overly spicy. The Lemonade was good but was the least tantalizing item I enjoyed (and I enjoyed it all).
I went on to have a burger. Don't judge me. I haven't had a burger in several months and wanted one. They come with lettuce, tomato and pickle slices and I dressed mine up with avocado and jalapeños and a side of potato salad. The burger was on the rare side of the medium I requested, but that request was based on previous experiences at other burger joints. I'm glad it was "under" cooked because it certainly hit the spot.
Others in our group cleaned their plates of the Chicken Fried Chicken (x2) and Blue Corn Enchiladas before briefly considering the dessert menu. Already stuffed from lunch, we elected to forgo dessert and roll our way back to the car.
Service was very helpful, insightful, informative while never pressuring us to make a decision or wrap it up. If I recall the servers name, I will update this review, but they all seemed to have the same skill and patience running their respective areas of the dining room.
We are already looking forward to making it back to take them up on that...
Read moreVery disappointed me and my husband come here for our anniversary on valentines weekend. I was very upset beings how you guys are always out of everything we are wanting. Out of the special very early, out of our beer except half a glass that was served warm, out of stake..... had to get the more pricey one. I ordered the ribeye medium rare when I got it...I couldn't believe I was being charged $30.00 for such a thin, unappealing, overcooked piece of meat. My husband ordered a burger over medium he cuts it open and it was practically mooing at him, we tried to give another chance since last visit I got served the wrong burger I got a regular instead of an elk Burger.. and of course they were out of everything... Thought it was just a rough night we would give another chance but there we were again more disappointed than the last visit. We had to leave and go across the street to Chili's to get our food cooked right. I got a bigger stake cooked how I wanted it and at a cheap price. I wouldn't recommend paying the prices you guys ask for. My man works far too hard to be paying that much for mediocre food. A year ago I loved the place, now I'm just not seeing the worth in it for the price, even got a bad table right next to the door it was very cold. Sorry for the rant but this place was very special to me and my husband and everything that could have went wrong on our anniversary at this place most definitely did. And to say it doesn't make sense to my man that your half a glass of left over beer was warm sounds like it should be something that starts making sense when your beer is as bad as the food. Making a disparaging comment while apologizing to my husbands review blew my top so here's my two cents to add to your over priced menu I cook...
