Let me start off by saying, it was very clean at the hotel, that is not why I was disappointed. First of all, we did not stay at the Inn, we were assigned to stay at The Montrose Hotel that the Inn also operates. When I called, I was told there was a "chance" we would be at the hotel, I really wanted to be at the Inn because it looked nicer and it was walking distance to the shopping we came for, and it was for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived, the person told us that the Inn was "booked months in advance" and we would be at the hotel. Not much we could do so we had to go back through construction and go to the hotel. ||||We were a bit confused about where our room was because it said 20_ but the signs on the outsides of the doors just said 1-9 and 10-17. We just went in and luckily found our room (no front desk or anything at this hotel). Like I said before, the room was clean but it was very oddly decorated. You can tell this hotel is used for the workers, because it had a huge wardrobe in it taking up a huge chunk of space. ||||Our main gripe was with the bathroom and the air conditioning. The lighting was terrible in the bathroom, only one light and the black shower curtain made it hard to see while in the shower. Toilet is so close to the wall it caused some issues with my left handed husband. And the shower head came to about my neck (I am 5'6) so I had to bend down to even wash my hair. My poor husband who is 6'3 had trouble even showering because of this. Not sure why it was set up that way. The air conditioning would run for a bit then turn off and never run again. Not sure what was up with it, but it got a little hot during the night because of this issue. ||||For what we paid I just expected a bit more in terms of comfort and quality. It is also VERY noisy at the hotel, especially when they were doing construction. I woke up a few times during the night and even then I could hear all kinds of cars and noises, and the hotel sits back a decent bit from the road. I just know better next time to stay somewhere else since we would probably get stuck at the...
Read moreThere was a time that I would have considered giving this place 4 out of 5 stars however the past few months there food has gone down hill and service has never been anything great, although a few of the waitresses do actually seem to care about there job and good service. Needless to say last time I was there will be my last time there which I told to the ignorant and unprofessional cook after he made a snide remark as I was leaving after trying to return an appetizer that was beyond pitiful. Basically I complained in a nice way about a calamari appetizer that I ordered to go that consisted of about 10 tiny pieces of undercooked, dripping in deep fryer oil calamari and was charged roughly $12 for it. Upon bringing it back inside to ask for a possible refund, the bartender rudely said that wasn't possible but would make it up to me next time and as I left the cook standing at the bar had to chime in with comments. Basically there argument was calamari wasn't on the menu bc there menu has calamari bruschetta and I simply asked if I could instead just get an order of the calamari with a side of marinara, so they basically charged me full price as if I was getting the bruschetta (to which the bartenders response was "well yeah but your getting other things with it like the marinara" but obviously other then the marinara I wasn't getting anything else with it and if it was such a big deal he could have simply told me over the phone when I placed the order and I would have gladly ordered something else but actually that may have been an issue bc they don't even have available what they claim to on there "summer menu". That story aside the food has gone down hill in the last 6 month's and service has never been good. So yeah I would strongly advise against this place and instead opt for a much friendlier establishment with better food such as Anthony's in South Montrose or OIP Montrose and if your looking for some drinks and a great bar menu with a nice atmosphere check out Shana and Franks bar (soon to be Just Frank's) located just a few miles...
Read moreWe rented a room for a friend who was visiting. We rented 2 weeks in advance and clearly asked for a room at the inn itself, and not at the other hotel in town that they own. The night we registered the guest, we were informed that the people who were in the reserved room had decided to stay longer and so had re rented the room! Then we were given a key and told to drive over to the other hotel...no apology! We then were charged significantly more for the other room. When the guest left, we witnessed him drop the key in the drop box. We then got a call the next day stating that the guest had to vacate the room because it was rented out. We stated that the guest had been out of the room for 24 hours and was 4.5 hours away in his hometown as we spoke! They then called again the next day saying that we had not paid. Again, we stated that our VISA had in fact been charged in full and that we actually paid more than we had initially been told! We then got a third call a few days after that, asking for the key which we said was in the drop box. They obviously FINALLY got everything straight. What horrible business owners, who do not understand what "I'm sorry, our mistake" actually means to a business. Also, they gouge in their room charges as well, and charge the same for the rooms as they do to the gas companies who rent rooms there. Try to stay in Binghamton if you can...or a room...
