The Rosemont was a HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT.
We arrived after dark on Dec 22 2022. Parked the car in the back at the bottom of the hill.
Early on the 23rd we received the call that my Dad had passed away at Meadowview. I was in town to start the hospice procedure for him. We were not able to bring the car up the hill because of the ice and snow that had accumulated in the parking area. We were able to walk to my Mom's apartment located downtown to borrow her car to go to Meadowview. We ended walking back and forth for 7 days before we got the car from the Rosemont parking area. 7 days of negative 1 to maybe 11 positive temperatures. The wind was blistering.
The room (nook) was very cold. We were given a portable heater to try to bring the temperature up. We were told about the thermostat, but apparently it wasn't working correctly.
Christmas eve I was taking a shower and the handle fell off and landed on my toe. Now, I would let this one go, but the year before we stayed in the same room and the same handle fell off and I mentioned it to Penny then. At this point it's just a swollen toe and I have important funeral matters that needed planning.
On Christmas day I attempted to open the window in the bathroom. As I opened it the entire window fell down and I was left with 8 bruised fingers. I mentioned this to Sharon and suggested something be done about this dangerous situation. Later, when we were changing rooms I found handwritten note under my laundry bag that warned about the window.
Again, we are more concerned with funeral arrangements and family.
At some point we realize there is a room with an outside door (Marie Antoinette) that made it convenient to park my Mom's car outside the room so we could stop walking to town 4 times a day. I realize it isn't far to town but the sidewalks surrounding the Rosemont were not shoveled and had the same ice accumulation as the driveway. Very dangerous to walk.
We moved into the Marie Antoinette. They are having trouble with the heat, so we are given 2 heaters. We were told the previous tenant used both. We plugged them in and blew a circuit. This was the easiest problem to fix of any of the problems. I asked about using the fireplace and was told it smells bad when turned on so no, the fireplace was not an option.
We were exhausted and went to bed.
The next morning I start the shower and go to use the toilet. Upon flushing the toilet it overflows. At the same time the shower area is starting to overflow. (It is a shower made for a wheelchair to slide into.) Eventually Sharon has to call a plumber to fix the bathroom. We are with family for the day and didn't need to stay in the room.
We stayed at the Rosemont because we did not want to stay with friends or family in their big old drafty houses, lol.
Sharon did her best. The breakfast was good.

Read moreMy husband and I were on a 5-hour drive home late one September afternoon from a concert in Hershey Pennsylvania when suddenly the car dashboard lights blew up and while rapidly losing power, we had no choice but to pull off the nearest exit – 211/PA-106/N. Completely unfamiliar with the area, we contacted AAA who towed us to a garage 16 miles away to a small town called Montrose where we were told that a car part needed to be shipped in in order to fix it. We would be stranded for at least an overnight. As luck would have it, we were able to secure one of the very last available rooms in town at the Rosemont Inn Bed and Breakfast situated on a hill overlooking the town. Despite it being after hours, Innkeeper Penny Eldred and staff greeted us warmly and quickly set us up in a beautifully quaint and pleasantly decorated room. We woke up the next morning to the delightful smells of a wonderful breakfast buffet where Penny graciously shared her secret on how to keep the tasty frittata exceptionally moist. As somewhat of an emerging artist, I mentioned to Penny how beautiful the artwork displayed throughout the inn was. This prompted us to talk about art and show each other our own individual works. I felt an instant connection to Penny who took the time to sit with me and share me her vibrant, beautiful illustrations and read the story for her next children’s book while my husband checked on the timeline to get the car fixed - late afternoon. Checkout was at 10am, but Penny invited us to stay in our room as long as we needed at no extra charge since it was vacant that day. She then suggested that we take a short walk into downtown Montrose to check out the lovely boutiques, an incredible bakery, and my personal favorite - a vibrant artist co-op called “Slanted” where I purchased several beautifully made Holiday gifts. The town was so charming and every single person we met was incredibly nice, personable, and super helpful. Our car trouble misfortune turned out to be a serendipitous and surprisingly wonderful experience and we would highly recommend the Rosemont Inn and Bed & Breakfast to anyone looking for a spectacular weekend get-a-way or who just happens to breakdown along I-81 driving on the way...
Read moreA stay at the Rosemont Inn Bed and Breakfast is a treat. It is a mansion. It has been for two decades been recognized as site on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a place to stay, below Binghamton, New York and off the harried Interstate Highways. Nestled in the beautiful countryside in Montrose, Pennsylvania the Rosemont Inn and Montrose rise like a phoenix among the fields, farms and forests. A deliriously pleasant surprise after a long day on the road, as it was our experience. It is difficult to describe how spacious are the multiple dining areas are the Rosemont Inn B&B. The room and bathroom provided for ample space among the antiques and other detailing. The rockers were almost too nice to be used for their intended purpose. We remained only one evening and had a pleasant breakfast of fresh cinnamon rolls and a ginger bread loaf. The evening of our arrival after a day long cross country drive through New Hampshire and Vermont, and then passing along the Adirondack range from Albany; we approached the Inn from the North, through Binghamton. The innkeeper was very attentive and offered us hot tea which was indeed a treat. All of the other guests were very nice and enhancing and sharing their life experiences at the Inn. The next morning we met some of the guests. There were young and old, working people or retirees, like me. If you have a choice between a place to stay on the Interstate or the Inn in Historic Montrose; take the Inn, there is no competition. We wish we had more time, but had...
