Pizza Cucina — Restaurant in Montville Township

First time here, ordered two plain slices, pizza was okay. The cheese flavor was overwhelming, almost no sauce, crispy bottom. An ok slice of pizza but not great. I also noticed after pies on display were finished the empty spots were being filled in with pizza that was NOT fresh, looks like the replacement pies were made in the morning, or refrigerated. That kind of irked me as well, you should have fresh pies on display, not pies that were made 6 hours ago. Besides that, I couldn't really tell who worked here. There was 3 young men either sitting or walking around the dining room area of the pizzeria. One nodded at me, but didnt welcome me. We tried again a few times just to be sure it wasn’t just a bad night, and the food has definitely changed. We asked them what they did and they said nothing had changed but you don’t go from the best in town to that with no changes. Oh well, time to find another place.

We have been big fans for years. We have firmly believed that they make the best pizza in town, but yesterday’s was not great. The sauce has changed and not for the better. I don’t know if it was a bad batch or they changed the recipe but it was terrible. The dough was also different, not as crispy and the flavor was almost yeasty. Idk if there’s a new chef but...

I have lived in Montville my whole life and finding good pizza was tough. Local pizzarias were good but nothing great. I don’t know if Pizza Cucina changed owners or what but this pizza is AMAZING. We usually order a large, cheese pie and we request it really thin and they do it!!! Other pizza places will say “okay” to that request and the crust is still on the thicker side. I’ve also tried their salads and the arugula and romaine is so fresh. They have delicious appetizers too, specifically the stuffed mushrooms. We order from them every time now. The staff is very friendly....
