The place is never packed. The food is always good. On October 13th, at 6:00pm, service was unfortunately nonexistent. The food was good again. We came in and waited 5 minutes to be told “sit wherever you want” though the sign at the door says “please wait for hostess to seat you.” We seat ourselves. Almost 10 mins later our waitress comes by and we order our entire meal, appetizer, entrees, drinks, all up front. We wait another 10 mins for drinks, after my wife gets up to ask, we get them. The place isn’t busy. Our appetizer comes a few minutes after our drinks, then we wait for our meals. My wife’s calzone was supposed to be ham and pineapple, it was pineapple. We are mostly easygoing, so she said “I’ll eat it.” 7pm comes, we are half way through with our dinner and our salad finally comes. We ask for refills on our drinks. 5 minutes later we get refills. We don’t see our waitress again. We go to leave and my wife asks to talk to the manager. We aren’t paying for a salad we didn’t touch, it was brought towards the end of the meal, and we didn’t get a to-go box. The manager pulls a class act and walk away while my wife is talking to him. The waitress comes over, offers a box for the salad and we decline. She removed the salad from the bill, and we leave. We won’t return; what disrespectful service this place offered to a disabled veteran and his family. I don’t think we deserve special treatment, but to be checked on would be wonderful. To have the manager turn his back and walk off, was low class, trashy, and rude. This is not a high class restaurant but it could be a hometown comfort food favorite. It’s certainly going to be something I let everyone know about who recommended it. 2nd experience here and both times were almost identical. The only reason it’s not a 1-star is because the food isn’t bad. The floor was a mess, the bathrooms aren’t clean, the table was sticky and we asked for it to be cleaned, we were ignored. No concerns for the wrong order. Again, it’s not a busy place, but it could be a different experience with a little attention towards the customers and a lot more respect towards the local patrons. If you like being ignored, this place will definitely make you happy. We left about 7:20pm. I noticed 6:24pm was on the receipt, which is about 20min after we arrived and about an hour before we left. Either way...
Read moreCame here on MDW. Since it was the only sit down restaurant open. Based off of reviews we were expecting something decent. The space itself was clean and calm music and a nice outdoor patio. Service was SLOW and took forever to get containers, refills, check. My mom and dad had to leave early and they got Sicilian slice and plain. The plain slice was okay. It really didn’t have much. The Sicilian was good. Fresh and had flavor. The chicken soup was okay. The broth and soup itself was great. The noodles were a bit tough and overcooked. I skipped the salad but my BIL said it was good. The mozzy sticks were great. Had stretch and was cheesy. The marinara sauce was a bit sweet. The garlic bread was different. It was missing something like olive olive or spice. But I did like the chopped garlic which gave it flavor. The plain bread was okay. It had Italian seasoning and the butter made it good. The bruschetta was okay. The flavor was there but again, I think it needed some olive oil to bring out the extra flavor. The eggplant parm was meh. I was a bit disappointed. It wasn’t thick and was very thin and breaded heavily. There wasn’t much cheese and the sauce was the same as the marinara. Sweet. I didn’t eat the penne because it was too tough. Disappointed. My husband got the chicken with vodka sauce. Again the pasta was tough. The chicken was okay but the flavor was again lacking. My FIL got shrimp carbonara and he said it was 8/10 he said flavor was there but it was too dry and the pasta again tough. My MIL got chicken Marsala and this was one of the best meals. It was not dry, flavorful, sweet and overall wonderful. Again the pasta. My BIL got chicken Murphy and he gave it 7/10. The pasta again was rough but he said because of the sauce it goes. It was a bit spicy but was refreshing. Lots of vegetables. Got two cappuccinos and my BIL and MIL enjoyed it. The lady finger that came with it was a nice surprise but stale. WAY TO EXPENSIVE for the quality of food. In my opinion, everyone has a different taste and this wasn’t my families. We have had better Italian in the area and were a bit...
Read moreFirst time, never again. I called in the order, and stated that I want the "Brooklyn Special". The person answering the phone did not know what that was. I said, no problem, it is the grilled chicken, fresh mozz, roasted peppers, with balsamic sandwich, listed on your menu in the "from our grill" section. She said they do not have that, it must have been a special from last week. I explained to her that it is a regular menu item with that name, but I could repeat the ingredients to her, so they can prepare the sandwich. She said they can't do that. So I ordered the bruschetta for my husband, expecting what the first picture shows, and what we usually get from Parsippany pizzerias. We received some untoasted hard sliced bread topped with what seems like the ingredients. I asked a specific order: broccoli and spinach calzone, light on both cheeses (ricotta and mozz), with extra sauce. I did not receive the extra sauce, not were they light on the cheeses. Instead, I received another ingredient: garlic. I mean, sure, for garlic lovers, to receive this of out the goodness of the chef's heart is an added delicatessen, but for someone who cannot go anywhere near garlic or else she gets physically ill, this is not something she's like to see. We also ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and the pasta with meet sauce. They were eatable, but pretty flavorless. Not a good first time...
