My monthly march into Marlton brought me to the White House Restaurant in Moorestown. I generally get breakfast here and intended to have french toast. I came in through the easily accessible parking lot entrance and was instantly mesmerized by The Magic Words on the Specials Board: Fried Flounder! Service here is impeccable and Ana carried on that tradition today. I was assured the flounder was fresh, so I made it my choice. Included was either soup or salad and one side. A creamy, hearty seafood bisque was quite filling among the 3 soup choices, loaded with clams and flounder. The flounder was fried spot on. Didn't even need tartar sauce. Ditto for my side of hockey puck sized fried eggplant. All for the unbelievable price of $12.99! No room for dessert, but the homemade rice pudding has sufficed in the past. Ana was attentive and kept my coffee cup filled with good quality java. The always affable owner, who closely supervises the very clean restaurant, chatted with me upon my departure and said the flounder was occasionally on the menu due to its limited popularity. I imagine Ash Wednesday had something to do with it. Ample parking. Small for your average diner, but busy. I have never had to wait when I go for late breakfast/lunch. Senior Management has been duly informed and hopefully will decide to grace them for fried flounder in person...
Read moreMust have driven by this place thousands of times and I figured any restaurant that survived the pandemic must be OK. The inside is a little off putting (old fashioned) but the good wait staff and simple food. I ordered the stuffed seafood platter (see photo). While I would have loved more crab in the mixture the price was low for stuffed flounder, stuffed shrimp and the mushroom which was buried under a cloud of stuffing. It was the fresh vegetables blew me away. I selected the grilled vegetables (maybe were roasted ahead of time but then well caramelized on a griddle prior to serving) and steamed broccoli (heavy fresh stalks x2). My husband had zucchini braised in tomato chunks - there were remnants of fresh thyme floating in it. So many diners sadly have...
Read moreGreat Diner food and they are accommodating. Locally owned and operated. Good catering service available. Owner very nice. Sometimes the servers aren't so attentive but the food is good and you can get a lovely hot meal at a reasonable price. One of our go-to restaurants. They've been in business for years and I see why. The interior isn't fancy but it's clean. Jave enjoyed everything I've ever eaten there, and so have my friends, who have been going there for years. Recently got four party trays (various types of hoagies) for a luncheon I was attending. The owner gave me a great price and they were very nicely prepared, not skimpy and were ready when I came to pick them up. They even carried them out to the car for me. Give this...
