SKIP THIS PLACE My experience was much the same as the other 1 star reviews beginning with the cashier who acted like she was at her moms funeral. $10.00 for lunch and not even any peel and eat shrimp until dinner starting at 3:45 when it goes to $12.00. and then $14.00 + on the weekend. Not much is added for dinner for the extra 2 bucks other than the shrimp which should have been on the bar for lunch in the first place. I really love mac and cheese like they have at the Golden Coral but at China Star it's more like mac floating in yellow water. The scrimp seemed to be a mix of possibly fresh and yesterday's left overs and smaller than at good Chinese buffets. Everything chicken was rubbery other than the wings and little legs which were probably the best thing I found other than maybe being a little under cooked. YOU CANNOT OPT OUT OF PAYING FOR YOUR DRINK. Your plates will pile up due to the minimalist approach to busing tables. They wait till you get up and leave to bus your table. Do not worry about tipping given it's pretty much built into the price already along with the drinks. Bottom line this place is a rip off. I'll never go back. The coffee was pretty good but only the powdered junk for creamer. I used ice cream for creamer which worked pretty well. The sushi bar again very minimalist and looked like it had been brought in from a food service truck after being prepared elsewhere. The salad bar looked pretty good for what they had but again very minimal and I do not go to a Chinese buffet for salad. I could go on...
Read morePersonally I've ate both in-store and take out. In-store has much better customer service than take out as exemplified by my last visit.
I called in from Lexington to get a order of beef lo mein NO vegetables and crab Rangoon. We decided all that was to be done in 50 mins or so, as it was raining heavily and I wanted it to cool some before going home so I could have a bit of crab Rangoon while driving. I arrive, pay for my meal and double check order(it still wasn't ready) at 55 mins). After waiting for a bit, I ask again make sure order is correct as the cashier had opened door since payment 5 times. Once again it was recited as correct. When I get home, my order was only correct with the facts of beef lo mein and crab Rangoon. IF I was allergic to the mushrooms, or vegetables used instead of the dislike of them, they'd have caused me a allergic reaction and I'd have cause for many ramifications. I though am not petty but I seriously am thinking of banning my household from this restaurant unless it's fine in. This is not first time this has happened, but I'm seriously considering it being last. Rather it's cooking staff(as slip shows order as in past been shown) or incompetence I can not say. I though gave them one last chance to correct this, as I had not been there in months for this very reason. Yet to my dismay, the problem still exists. Proof is in pudding...
