I decided to stop for dinner here and thought the place looked like it would have good home-style cooking, but that couldn't be further from the truth. As soon as I stepped inside the establishment I knew I made a mistake, it looked messy and their was little to no A/C cooling on a very hot day. The only sort of cooling I got was by a fan plugged in by the front door. I figured despite all this I'd order anyway. Now onto about how terrible the food was, I decided to order the "Bar-B-Que Beef Poyboy" and asked the waiter if the thought it was good and she replied with "It has sliced roast beef instead of shredded" which was not an answer to my question and that was a red flag for me but I ordered anyway. When my food came I noticed that this "Bar-B-Que Beef" Poyboy that I ordered had barley any barbecue sauce and the waiter noticed the mistake upon setting it on the table and asked if I would like more barbecue sauce on my poyboy so I said yes. When I took my first bite I realized that the roast beef had no taste to it, basically like flavorless dry meat and the barbecue sauce was very bland and cheap tasting. So all in all my Poyboy tasted like bread and cheap barbecue sauce with flavorless meat. I would not even finish my meal, which has never happened to me at any restaurant. All the food was quite over priced and honestly not worth one bit of the price. So all in all I would recommend you save your money and go eat elsewhere, somewhere with decent food at a reasonable price. At Rita Mae's you get overpriced flavorless tasting food that's not even worth your time to stop by for a...
Read moreThis is a review that I must have lost or deleted from years past (say 2018). With out a doubt this is a jewel of a restaurant. When we ate there, they were bringing items in from the grocery store and directly into the kitchen so you know that they were fresh. The food took a while as it was being cooked as we waited and it was well worth it. It is hard for me to say okra, as I grew up calling it okee, and I could taste the fresh okee in my gumbo. I loved it. A glass of cornbread and buttermilk and I would have been in hog's heaven. Bottom line, the meal for all of us was perfect. Everyone was nice and friendly and I sure appreciated that. Thank you for such a nice experience.
I keep saying that if I am ever in Morgan City again, I will go back; alas, I have not had occasion to return, as I live south of Houston, and have only gone as far as Rosedale, La. I will have to search my photos inventory to see if I do have...
Read moreI don't know if telling the truth will be a disservice and make the restaurant owner even busier? Because of the hard work year after year, they are no longer young. Without making an appointment, we read the reviews on Google and entered the store at 6:30 in the evening. We were locked inside and the boss did not intend to accept any more customers. We were in the group of guests, and we watched the other guests who were unable to enter the door, and felt a little happy in our hearts. We were the last lucky ones to come in. In the completely unadorned old house, we could eat the essence of southern food. Like everything that appears in this house, there is no trace of makeup, all real materials, no commercial additives, Kung Fu dishes made with love for decades, I will not talk about the crayfish, which is world-famous. New Orleans cuisine still has...
