Upon walking in to pick up my takeout order, I was immediately greeted by a very welcoming employee. Speaking of first impressions, the first thing out of my mouth when I bit into my food was, "FINALLY, someone in this town knows how to make a damn burger!" I have been trying to find a good burger for months and after trying various places, I figured that maybe I just didn't like burgers after all, despite previously enjoying them. Nope, it was just that nobody made them right.
I got a double Texan burger, which comes with an onion ring, grilled jalapeños, and cheese. I added bacon, extra cheese, ketchup, and grilled onions. The way they assembled the burger was great, with them putting all the toppings under the top bun, and more ketchup and cheese on the bottom bun as well. This way, every bite had so much flavor. The burgers themselves were juicy and flavorful, which is in stark contrast to places that just give you a dry and flavorless slab of meat.
I also got a fried chicken sandwhich with pineapple and was wowed by that as well. The meat tasted like a better version of Chick-fil-A, and was remarkably similar in regard to that special flavor that those who have eaten at the fast food joint will instantly recognize.
Now that the main items are out of the way, here's some notes about the other things I tried:
The fries were seasoned very well The jalapeño poppers were quite good My girlfriend's honey hot boneless wings reminded me of the sauce on honey chicken from Chinese takeout places (in a good way) I tried a sip of the raspberry tea and it was addicting
The one downside is that it's a bit on the pricier side, but they ain't lying when they claim to be a step above the average burger joint. You're paying for quality at Brava Burger and I don't regret the $75 I spent for about three people's worth of food (I eat for at least two 😅). Overall, it's a great new restaurant in the Morgantown area and it's not another commercialized chain. I would definitely come...
Read moreI visited Brava Burger and left angry enough to leave a 1 star review. My wife talked me down. Here’s why I was incensed: You go to pay and the card reader prompts you to leave an 18% or 20% tip. . . . On fast food. . . . before it is sent to the kitchen.
The meals are already at the top of the price tier for hamburgers.
Was the food worth it though? That’s why I’m giving them a 4 star and encourage you to make your own evaluation (and I encourage the owner to re-vamp their POS system and not coerce for tips – just pay your employees enough), because you might try them and like the things I didn’t like – except for the high price and tip strong-arming: no one likes that.
The meat on the burgers is tasty-- there is a lot, like a meatloaf amount. Buns were prepackaged but held together well for the giant patty. Toppings were fresh with a good selection – but many of the toppings are ‘upsales’ to an already $16 standard burger. Cashier was very friendly, but also dead-stared at purchase to see if I was leaving the large pre-determined tip. Bathrooms and dining area were clean and inviting. Drink kiosk had a good selection including sweet and unsweetened tea.
Summary: I don’t know. I want places like this to succeed and I LOVE hamburgers. But I personally can’t recommend it. If they contact me and revise some of their issues, I will gladly go back and re-evaluate. Feel free to try them and see if...
