Several days ago I decided to try this establishment. It was not a professional nor idea experience. First, the hours of operation start at 11:30 AM, so I decided that waiting 15 minutes would suffice. As soon as I got out of the car, I hear the cashier yelling get ready to the owner cooking in the kitchen. He precedes to yell back at her I'm not ready, I need an additional 20 minutes. Mind you if your establishment opens at 11:30, you need to be ready at 11:30 to serve your customers. That was strike 1! Strike 2 was after waiting another 15 minutes to order, then after ordering and paying for a rib dinner, I was told that there were no ribs available and that the owner was just putting them on the grill and that it would take another 3 hours. When I tried to get my money back, they tried substituting something else in the place of the rib dinner. So not only do they not have food available as advertised they try to keep your money. This establishment is very unprofessional. They definitely don't have their food ready when they open, and you have to wait for 20-40 minutes to get your order. That doesn't include the time it takes to order and get told that they are generally out of most items. It is a waste of time and money. Most of the food is typically burnt, bland with no seasoning, and too expensive for the quality of the food that you do receive. This establishment always seems to have some type of problem. This was my first time ordering from this place and it will be the last. The only reason I gave 1 star is because it won't let you write a review without one. This establishment is definitely a no go for me, so I will not...
Read moreTo preface this review, my wife and I are not picky and very forgiving when it comes to how we rate food. We leave this review without malice or anger towards the folks here at Sweet Southern Smoke BBQ. We only hope to help improve the issues that we experienced while visiting this establishment.
My wife and I had two meals:
1- ribs, macaroni and cheese, BBQ Beans, cornbread
2- brisket, green beans and potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread
Unfortunately the food did not taste as good as it smelled. The BBQ was dry. My wife said the ribs reminded her of jerky and the brisket was not fall apart tender. The brisket was very fatty as well.
Our sides: As far as the macaroni and cheese it was okay. Unfortunately it wasn’t very tasty and bland. The potatoes were undercooked and the green beans weren’t flavorful either. The cornbread had a good flavor, just very dry.
My wife and I were very excited to try some BBQ here around Morgantown… but for $40.00 we expected much better and were sadly...
Read moreFirst visit and the food was AMAZING! To the point that I a the made a special 45 minute drive to eat here again. Sadly, the 2nd visit was horrid. Food was burnt to a crisp and so dry u could hardly chew it. This was hidden under the barbecue sauce. When discovered I spoke with owner and he attempted to correct the order. However I was served another portion of the same burnt dry scraps. I decided to give place 1 more try because u have to love n support owner/operator local Small businesses plus the food was amazing the 1st time. I even asked if the meat was burnt dry n gross or if it was gonna be edible today. I was assured top notch food. However to my dismay and growling stomach, that trip will be my last as I spent $20 for a sandwich n side that ended up in garbage due to dry, burnt rock hard shreds of meat. And a potato salad that was old, half frozen, and absolutely disgusting. Hard to Understand why he would do this to his...
