I don’t live in Moultrie any more but was in town visiting family recently. Having been raised in Moultrie, going to the Bar B Q Pit, I expected I would get the same good food and nice hospitality that I remembered.
Those days are over. Our waitress was downright rude and the chicken was dry as a bone. They have raised prices using COVID-19 as an excuse in the same way gas stations gouge customers during a hurricane evacuation.
I have had stomach surgery which prevents me from being able to eat a lot so my wife and I generally share our meal. I ordered the Half chicken dinner to share and asked that the salad bar be added to our meal for my wife. The waitress informed me that it would be full price for the salad bar since we got two sides. I said okay, make my tossed salad the salad bar then. She then said that it would still be $8.50 for my wife’s salad bar since we were sharing and that it wasn’t her rules. I explained my medical situation and she said it didn’t matter and that it wasn’t her rules.
Anytime a member of our party ordered the salad bar the waitress let us know the price of the salad bar, that she had to make it because of COVID and that it wasn’t her rules (even though we never asked about any rules). Needless to say it sounded like she just didn’t want to make the salads.
In conclusion, there is a Bar B Q place called Smoking Pig in Valdosta (just a short drive to the south East) that doesn’t seem to have been affected by COVID-19. Their food is reasonably priced, they let you prepare your own salad, their staff is pleasant and they don’t discriminate when you have a medical reason to share a plate.
The post pandemic Bar B Q Pit motto should be, “Dry as a bone” which is a reference to their chicken and...
Read moreTerrible experience!!! Mom and I went on Saturday August 20th...our waitress was a tall young white female.... We had been there about 15 minutes before an older couple and I assume their grandchild sat right beside us ....some coughing took place and mom and I felt uneasy....so I finally got out waitress attention and she stood away from our table and asked out loud what's wrong? I asked to be moved....she repeated again.....what's wrong....I told her the air too cold....so she moved us...but I really moved due to the coughing....mom and I waited about 40 minutes for our food but that older couple received theirs before us and I asked her why? She replied....the hamburger steak had to cook....I replied all the food had to cook....she had a bad personality and they piled all my mom's food on one small plate but gave the older couple two plates.....my mom ribs were so greasy....left a puddle of on her plate....she took them home to cook them some more.....Once we checked out....the Cashier asked was everything ok.....I advised her my mom ribs were too greasy.....she said you had hamburger steak......I said I know what I had.....I'm talking about my mom.....she didn't apologize nor adjust the bill. May I add I overheard our waitress tell another waitress about why I wanted to move due to the coughing as though she had a problem with us wanting to move. I've been there before....but I was in uniform and I was treated so nice.....but we will never go back!!!!! Poor service and I know why we received bad treatment....but I'll keep it to myself. Two more things I observed the cashier coughed in her hand and the slim waitress scratched her face and did not use sanitizer........poor unclean...
Read moreI want to start with saying that yes the waitress was very polite, and she made sure to be attentive and made sure she helped with anything she could. Now for the food. I had ordered a steak burger with onions and gravy, the toast bread, fries, and slaw. Things tasted fine, but the meat was just warm like it sat for a little bit, the onions were cold, and gravy barely warm. Fries were okay, and slaw was good. My mother ordered a pulled pork, garlic bread, bbq beans, and okra. The pulled pork was warm. The bread was very hard on the crust and hurt her teeth, and the rest of the bread was doughy. The okra was okay, but some was undercooked. As for the bbq beans, it was bad enough she had to spit it out. The place has really gone down hill over the years. My Papa Cleve Dean used to take me here back before he passed away, and the food was always wonderful. I don't know if it was cause he was famous, but I'm sure no matter what. You always treat all customers with the same respect and quality. Yet sadly over the years this place has lost much of that. So this is my last time going to...
