C F Jones Classic Cafe — Restaurant in Mount Airy

I was so happy this place stayed open after the mall closed, but man is it hit or miss. The first time we went after the reopening everything was awesome. We went a second time and it was TERRIBLE. The food was good but the service was terrible. I thanked the cashier several times and never got a reply, just a sigh and a not so hidden eyeroll. I ignored that, but when I got my food (3 piece grilled chicken tenders) it was literally a chicken patty cut in 3 pieces. I asked the lady that took it out if the 3 piece tender was just one tender cut in thirds (which is literally all it was) and she said no in a pretty irritated voice (I would like to clarify that she was not mad at me at all, she was irritated at the worker who was too lazy to make more tenders). Her name was Karie, and she was absolutely awesome and helpful. If the manager reads this, I'm not joking when I say that you need to do everything you can to keep her working there. She was the only worker willing to help and went way out of her way to make things right. All in all, it isn't a terrible place but some of the workers are not so great. When we got there I literally waited 30 minutes for one of the workers to leave the single stall bathroom to wash my hands.

Edit: we got our ice cream but we didn't eat it at all. The worker used her bare hands (no gloves) to put it together in her hand. She picked up a half of a fudge cake with her hand, put it together in her hand, and then put it in the box... I couldn't believe it. Won't be going back ever. I changed it from 2...

My husband and I wanted to try a new spot in town, tried this place earlier today. I loved the set up, really clean and neat but the food... We got a meal thinking it was going to be something else we had in mind. It was hamburger BBQ like deal but, I thought came with 2 sides EACH, but point being the bun was soggy and the mixture was not taste pleasing AT ALL. Barely any on there and the whole sandwich burger was a mushy soggy mess... Barely any coleslaw, and the little kindergarten cup of fries was not a hit with hubby. He's a big fella and if u have a good hankering for a 'small child's snack pack' he dubbed it, then there ya go. Just 2 burgers & small cup fries, and lil' side salad and 2 small drinks maybe it was med? But can of soda can fill...totaled $16.78! What?! Pretty much $20 & my husband was upset and still hungry because it was MY IDEA. Thumbs down!

I am in customer service's myself. I came in yesterday 4/17/19 around 12:30pm, ordered a combo and wasn't given my cup. I noticed everyone around me had there's. The cashier the proceeded to reach over the counter and hand mine to me later after I asked for my order to go. She then gave me a child's cup, I asked for a larger cup just like everyone else. She stated I would have to pay a dollar more. I said that's fine but I thought I purchased a combo??? She said you do but it's extra for the cup. Why didn't she ask or tell me this in the beginning. I watched as everyone else was handed larger cups, with combo's and yet I am handed a child's cup. Lost and confused I said ok I'll pay a dollar more. But she charged me almost $2.00 for a extra cup.
