Four Star Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Mount Zion

Well let me start off with the positive things, food, atmosphere, good Staff not to bad. Now the other part. We dined in this establishment a few times so far, but last night 6-29-2024 Our dining experience was good and not good. A member of our party had ordered a all you eat special, which was good, because they requested a second helping, which they only was able to eat about have of it, so we thought it would be ok to just take rest home where it would've been eaten and not wasted. So I requested a container to take said food home and was given said container Then after preparing the leftovers to take home we was let's say in a polite way was told that we should just not do that because it's the rules, and I get rules and that people abuse rules but what I don't get why this restaurant and others would rather want to throw food in the trash instead of just letting people take it with them. I would definitely get the "polite confrontation we experienced" if our intentions was just order the extra just to simply take it home on purpose but that was not the case, for we are trying to teach our children not to be wasteful but our society teaches the opposite. But we still left the staff a 21% tip on bill of roughly $44.00 I completely understand why places would rather throw food in the trash instead of just being understanding and letting people just take it home where it would...

This truly is the best local restaurant in my area. I've been there on multiple occasions, and have never had bad food, or a bad experience. So far, I've tried the patty melt with fries, chili, fried mushrooms, and boneless fried chicken breasts. The melt was phenomenal. The fries, crispy & well seasoned. The chili had a unique taste, but was still VERY good, imo. The fried mushrooms, sooooo good. The boneless, deep fried chicken was ok. Not outstanding, but not bad, either. Just kind of on the thin side, and a teeny bit bland. And my husband loves their fried chicken, and creamy chicken and rice soup. The chicken takes a little time to prepare, but it is worth it. Very crispy, and they give you huge portions. The soup, my hb says, tastes remarkably similar to homemade. Maybe it's not, but it sure replicates. On our last visit, we were so disappointed to hear we'd lost our favorite waitress, Martha. But we were extremely impressed with Erin. She was very friendly, cheerful, and speedy. We didn't lack for anything the entire time. The entire staff, in fact, is very friendly, the decor funky, with a simple vibe. Plus, the prices are super reasonable. The menu choices are VAST. I would like to say that I have eaten here once at least every time I've come home sometimes twice. Today was awful the food was so not good I got the meatloaf it was cold and had no flavor she was kind enough to exchange that for me so I just went ahead and got an omelette I knew it would be hot and so not only did I change my order she charged me for the corn that came with the first order and the salads oh my god there are pulled apart lettuce no just one slice of tomato and one slice of cucumber and it was not cold shame on them they have a good business and it just I don't think I'll go back for quite some time at least this visit and maybe next visit but I will say that moment at Dorothy chicken was good but they make that to order now don't they..... The owner was there and didn't even offer to take anything off of our bill for the inconvenience it's a sad day for Four Star Family Restaurant in Mount...
