The salsa is literally the only thing this place has going for it. Thought we would try a change so we went here. First off the waiter said that a large margarita is $15. I still dont even believe he told me an accurate price because that's insane. We waited quite some time for them to take our order. It also took forever for them to give us our check when we were done. The staff was very cold and unfriendly, i didn't see a smile on any of their faces. Portion sizes were laughable. The large bowl of choriqueso was very small and we ordered it as an appetizer and we received it after getting our meals. We asked for the wifi password because we had no signal, and they were unable to get it for us. My daughter ordered the enchiladas and couldn't eat them. I tried a bite and tossed them to the side, i wasn't impressed. I felt like meat just being pushed through, a very unwelcoming environment. I did not leave a tip the service was so horrible. It has to be pretty bad for me not to tip. If you want good mexican at a good value and a stiff margarita then visit El Rodeo instead. I will...
Read moreDecember update: Even better than usual today. Salsa had was a little spicier and food very good. Very fresh. Loved the Margarita burrito for lunch. . . . . Ate today for Cinco de Mayo and they were hosting their 2nd annual Jeep Fest with a rock band and mechanical bull ride. Plenty of outdoor seating. $3 beer and margaritas. The food and service was good, like my first visit in March. Had the Locos Tacos. I was expecting more than a 1/2 tsp of cheese. Some rice would have complimented the chicken and provided a missing texture and pallet change. Didn't care for the Special sauce that comes on the side. The chips were warm, as they should always be served, but most places don't. This is still my favorite in the region. . . . . Enjoyed the burrito chicken and margaritas. I'm used to the all the best of Houston TX. This is the first salsa in Illinois and Indiana that I didn't have to remake. Mild but good flavor. No chili powder or pepper sauce to ruin the taste. I look forward to...
Read moreWhen it's good, it's great. Lately it hasn't been good. I used to eat here multiple times a week, take-out, but over the past couple months they haven't been taking the time to fully cook the vegetables. That really ruins a lot of the menu.
I gave a 3 because they used to be good, and they probably still are decent when it's not the weekend. Everyone has a bad day occasionally, but the vegetable undercooking problem has become the norm.
I just remembered a time a couple years ago when I ordered seafood. Don't do that unless it's in fajitas.
I would say the dine-in service is great, but I haven't done that in months, so I don't know. I haven't had anything but a good time dining in so far.
Overall, it can be great, but it's a gamble currently - one I can't afford to repeat. It sucks to pay someone to cook your food only to have to cook it again at home. I hope they get back to where they used to be, because it was good food at...
