Definitely overpriced for the kind of options and portions you will receive at this restaurant. I think no one wants to mention the portions so they won't look like they're greedy. We were there for brunch yesterday to celebrate my husband's birthday and we had to remind the server to come back to our table to take our food order, which could've have been because my husband is black and I'm German, my daughter is black and her husband is white. It was just strange how her fluttered around everyone arriving after us and just acted we were invisible. Well, it is Mountainbrook Alabama after all. The food was average, my husband had the fried chicken and it was by far the best dish on the table. Or daughter had the French toast which was great but overpriced, I had Dyron's breakfast which was supposed to be with over medium eggs , but they were really runny. The cheese grits were good but they seemed to be out of a box. I've had great cheese grits before where you can see the cheese, these grits were just yellow. We chose this restaurant to for a digital review for a international magazine on how hard or easy it is to get good service in different cities in the south for mixed race couples that visit here. All in all, we...
Read moreComfortable farm to table restaurant hidden in a neat alley of shops. So hidden, Goggle can’t get the map correct. White tablecloths, warmly lit, beautiful bar and regular local customers filled the place even though it was almost 9.
Our server was kind and attentive. She and other servers filled our glasses before they were half empty, and checked on us to ensure everything was delicious, which it was. We came in late and they graciously served us. Cozy booths line the wall have pillows for comfort. Cornbread sticks and rolls with butter started the meal, followed by fried crab claws with a crisp flavorful coating. Worth the search for a variety of fresh oysters. I had the autumn fennel salad with satsumas and belle chèvre & it was delicious. Shrimp and grits with corn cake has large shrimp cooked to perfection. Dessert was over the top. Chef’s grandmother’s pecan pie was yummy with fresh pecans and tender crust. The lemon pie was also tasty. Definite repeat when I’m in the area. Beautiful Christmas lights on the streets around...
Read moreI don't know what's taken me so long to try Dyrons. Took some friends from Atlanta for dinner and had a good variety from the menu- chicken, fish, gumbo...Everything was outstanding! Highlands is my standby because of consistency and I can't speak to Dyrons on that yet but I sure will be back to find out !
Update1/23/19 We liked this place so much we actually went for our anniversary ( we’re pretty casual for anniversary!). Consistency was lacking. My husband got a steak and it tasted like it was cooked on a grill that hadn’t been cleaned in ages. Burned. He never, EVER sends things back. Since it was a $40 steak I encouraged him to send it back. He did and helped me with my fish. My snapper was quite good. To Dyrons credit, they were a bit busy as it was New Year’s Eve and they brought him complimentary bread pudding which was amazing. However the waiter was not at all accommodating or very friendly. He said it would be 20 minutes or more to get another steak. Unfortunately, that all left me...
