The American Cup — Restaurant in Mountain Grove

As a coffee brat, I was very hopefull of this place with the reviews. If my experience received was at a Starbucks or any other chain I would have just moved on. My experience wasn't bad but as a small local coffee house you should be far better then competition. Place looked great on the outside and in. My issue comes down to training. The coffee itself was ok coming from an automatic. But when I come to these small places I never want a cold poured espresso(drop shot). The team was cranking out shots and letting them die before they were served. You shouldn't be making the espresso before your order. I'm someone who likes espresso for flavour and not just the function. The service was slow but that is 100% acceptable for proper drinks and rate of speed. But I asked for a large caramel maciatto with half volume milk. And got the full amount. And it took long enough that I didn't want to ask them to fix. Again OK at Starbucks, not here. I want what I ordered. The ladies were nice and a bit overwhelmed. So I wasn't mean. Just dealt with it. Then while drinkg our coffee we ordered a firecracker for one of the teens. And the order got lost and had to ask a couple times to make. Then I went to the bathroom where every stall had actual crap in the toilets. Like no employee cleaned it over the morning. That's just a huge turnoff for me. I felt like the owner was there or manager hanging out. Maybe spend sometime training on the art of coffee and cleanliness and my experience would have been better.

Long time fan ever since you've opened in the old shop space. I enjoy most all of what I've gotten, but for the last few months the quality has been hit or miss. Any drink my partner or I have gotten has definitely been on the watery side, almost no flavor, hot or iced. We've tried many things thinking it was a one time occurance, and it's the same everytime. I don't know if it's the workers not having been trained efficently or the fast-pace pressure to get drinks out properly, but it's way different then when you first opened. Love the enviroment and atmosphere but the quality has declined. Even though we want to be supporters, it's hard given the quality change. Paying 5 or more dollars for a watery, flavorless coffee is really hard for me to do, even though we love the business itself. I only write this with constructive criticism in hopes the owners see this, so as to make positive changes and not lose other customers because they don't want to...

I run a route from Cabool to Springfield once a week and I found this place on my way through one day. It's otherwise a total caffeine desert from one end to the other, and I was excited to see this place come up on Google! Surprisingly, for being so rural, one of the best lattes I've ever had and I have been all over the country. I was also very happy to see the lack of political presence despite being American themed. It truly is just American themed and very tasteful. Unfortunately my route is on Sundays now and they take that day off. But you bet if I run it any other day, I'm going to be looking forward...
