Please keep in mind that I frequent this restaurant and i generally have a pleasant experience, having said that… last Friday, March 28th. On my oldest son’s 15th birthday he decided that’s where he wanted to have his birthday dinner, and so it was. Or so we thought. We arrived at Coltons at 7:30, it wasn’t very crowded but they told us it would take a little bit to get our table ready (party of 8) understandable, no problem. It only took about ten or fifteen minutes for them to seat us which was odd because of how vacant the restaurant was but nonetheless not a big deal. We were seated and waited patiently to order our drinks. Servers would walk by and we’d smile in hopes that this one was the one who would be taking our order. But alas, they never came. The servers wouldn’t make eye contact with us whatsoever. We felt like Nicole Kidman and her kids in the 2001 horror motion picture (The Others) the one where they’re ghosts but don’t know it until the end of the movie. Sorry if you haven’t seen it yet and i spoiled the ending, it’s a very good film. But i digress, we were invisible to them. Finally after about 30 minutes i went to the hostess and explained that we haven’t even had anyone come to our table to take our drink orders yet, let alone eat. She got the manager and they came over straight away. The manager apologized several times and gifted us two free appetizers. The manager was very professional and polite and we were polite in return. We all finally placed our orders, and they told us it would probably take longer than usual because they had already cut most of the staff (hence the mishaps) we told the server it was no problem. They brought out our food and started placing it in front of all of us, and the server waits until we all have our food before she bends down and tells my son. On his birthday. That she is so sorry but they didn’t have what he had ordered… but if there was anything else he wanted they could make it for him. She said “anything you want on the menu is on the house, i won’t put it on your bill. Even if you want the biggest steak we have” my son agreed and ordered the smallest steak they have because he’s just the sweetest kid. She comes back to the table a little later and says “i have good news and bad news, the good news is your steak is almost finished. The bad news is i am going to have to put it on your bill and you’ll have to pay for it.” I just asked her if she could just put his steak in a to go box for us when it was done. Paid my bill steak included, and we went home. They did sing happy birthday to him but the whole evening felt like a dud. We were there for probably 3 hours. Anyways, I’m more or less just venting. We all still had a decent time and the food was good. But i just felt bad for my son. He definitely deserves the world and i feel like he got gipped on his birthday. But if you guys haven’t seen the movie the others i implore you to check it out....
Read moreWe decided to go out to eat with the out of town in-laws this last weekend. With Colton's being the only place we knew of, steakhouse wise, we landed there. It was a Saturday, we expected it to be busy. We arrived at 4:15pm, and we were seated around 4:50pm. After watching 4 or 5 parties of 4 or less get seated, who had all but 1 had arrived after us... Not sure what that was about, but luckily, moments before my wife and her mother went "full Karen" they got us seated. 😂🤣 (As she glares as me reading this to her)
We sat just behind the hostess booth, at a quaint round table. It was comfortable enough, and we didn't feel like we were in the path, even though the place was super busy.
The waitress greeted us and took our drink order, asking us if we'd like to start with appetizers as well. Unfortunately for Colton's, we had plenty of time before we got seated to look through the menu, and had decided to skip appetizers for this round because of the excessive wait. However, they all sounded amazing, and we're hoping to find a less busy time to dine in and enjoy the menu a little more.
The food service was great, considering the wait for a table. Our waitress was quick, accurate and friendly.
I personally choose their grilled chicken and ribs plate. The wife had the pasta Alfredo, and our son chose the Montana burger. The in-laws shared a rack of ribs. All of the food was so good, especially the rolls, that conversation damn near came to a grinding halt with the first bites. It was HOT! I mean you could tell how fast they got it out after it was finished. If you've ever been to Applebee's or Chili's with more than 2 people, you know what I mean. You can taste the heat lamp at those places... Colton's was not like that!
Thier rolls, OMG! 🤤 Melt in your mouth! And they just keep them coming! I think we killed 2 baskets before we got our food, and they brought another with the food. THAT is going to bring me back for sure! I'd suggest though, maybe a little basket of jam with the butter as well? But either way... 🤤🤤🤤
For the 5 of us, with 2 sharing a meal (which can easily be done! They are massive!), including a root beer float and 2 more bottles of the same root beer (which is also on point!) the check was quite reasonable. Even with the odd service, we will probably go back to try more of the menu and check out the building and decor a...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m rating us a 5 star because We try so hard to provide the best experience for every guest that walks through the door, smile on our face. We are happy to do what we do for our Community because without them we wouldn’t be here. Every staff member we have is always willing to help the next without question for a greater cause, the Guests! Some of us work 40+ hours a week there. Imagine running around all week doing what we do, with the amount of business we get. It’s pretty exhausting, extremely demanding, and sometimes miserable; but we muster through it all. We might not make every guest happy and we truly are sorry to those people, but please always give us another try and always ask for Our Managers! Our managers are our leaders and will take charge and do everything they can to fix our mistakes. Lastly, The Caster family is most amazing family you will ever meet. Truly they are sent from God to help people in need in our Community. They provide so many things and help so many people it’s unbelievable. And they don’t even brag about it, they just keep doing it. Many people have met them and can attest that they are sweetest family in Mountain Home, and anyone who denies that fact are just straight deceitful and doing it out of spite! Need a job? As long as you are presentable and have restaurant-related characteristics you will more than likely get the job! The Caster family wants nothing more than to help people, but those people have to want that help, and have to have some common sense about the real world! Not everyone gets hired either but that’s also the Real World. There are so many places hiring, willing and able people. After working for Colton’s for more than 5 years; I feel like I’ve put too much work into making that place great for people to think any different! Thank you to anyone who enjoys Colton’s and comes frequently, You are the reason We do it! And if You’ve ever had a problem with us at Colton’s, please just give us a call and We promise to try everything in power to make things right. -Asst. Manager Nathan M. Colton’s Steak...
