So there has been a lot of hype floating around town over a new local pizza joint called Fattyz Pizza. They have only been in business for a few months and they are the talk of the town. So I decided I had to get in there to see what the local hype was all about.
Yesterday I took my mother to have dinner with me at Fattyz. When we pulled up in front of the place you could smell a nice garlic and herb type of aroma and immediately I was hungrier than before I had smelled it. I smelled so good. To look at the front of the pizza parlor it honestly don’t stand out much if any more than any other number of pizza joints, other than an A-frame sign on the side walk out front with a little pizza dude on it.
When we walked in it was quickly obvious that it was a New York style pizzeria and they were fairly busy. (Almost always a good sign.) Fine by me I love authentic New York style pizza, having spent the last 5 years in Connecticut I know what New York style pizza is. But the décor and pictures were a nice touch to add the feeling of being in New York. Over all the it appeared to be clean and well kept. They set up the sop in such a way that you can watch them make your pie, from getting the dough out of a storage container to putting it into the oven. For me that’s a huge plus because I like to know exactly what is happening to my food.
After we made our way to the counter we were kindly greeted by the young woman running the cash register and we placed our order. She handed us our drink cups and told us that she would bring our pie out when it was ready. I thought to myself awesome service. After we got our drinks we found a table and sat down. While we were waiting there were a number of patrons that had showed up and like us ordered their pies.
As we sat there though I quickly realized that there was obviously a fly problem since I couldn’t sit there for less than what seemed like a minute with out one landing on me until I moved or sweated at it to get it to go away. Not only did I and my mother find that annoying but is very unsanitary.
I watched them pull our pizza out of the oven and place it on the counter while the young woman that had earlier greeted us rang up other patrons. Looking at my phone for a clock saw that the pie was just sitting there and ended up sitting there for nearly 10 minutes. As I watched and waited for the pie the woman at the register had seen me looking on and motioned that the pie was ready and yelled across the restaurant "Sir your pizza is ready!", indicating I needed to get up to come get it. So I did reluctantly because in my head I wondered gosh how cold is it going to be or how many flies landed on this thing before I got to it.
When I got our pie back to the table we began to eat. They definitely held true to the New York style with the crust being thin and crispy. The sauce was good no to sweet or acidic. Nice job guys. But then there was the meat. It was sliced so thin you could almost see through a slice of Canadian bacon or peperoni, making it difficult to taste the meats.
As we finished our meal I saw something happen that is a cardinal sin in the restaurant/food business. I witnessed a delivery driver from Smoky Mountain Pizza come through the front door of the restaurant with a delivery, obviously for the staff, I thought. As it turns out I was right the delivery was for a member of the staff. However, I sat there and the first thought I had was "Wait the food there is not good enough for the staff that they order from another establishment? Really?". The point is that does not look good to any consumer or potential customer and is a big NO, NO.
As we walked out the same young woman that had greeted us thanked us for coming and said please come back. Now there are 2 major things in my book that I am not sure I will go back. The first and foremost is the fly issue and the other is another food establishment delivering food to this restaurant. Then as a side note the super thin sliced meat, don't do much good to put it on the pie if you...
Read moreI’m not one to complain/leave bad reviews but today’s experience has left a bad taste In my mouth. My husband and I had friends over with small children we decided to order fattys because we’ve liked their food and had company over. We wanted it delivered and did it online through chownow. While I was placing my order I didn’t see anywhere what the estimated delivery time. I placed this around 6 pm once I paid for my order my estimated delivery time was 8 pm which was way too late as mentioned we had little kids to feed. I called fattys to see if we can cancel the delivery and we could just pick up the order. I spoke with the manager and from the very beginning he seemed to have an attitude I felt it was very uncalled for. I didn’t have an attitude I explained to him I didn’t see an estimated delivery time until I already paid for the food if we can cancel the deliver and self pick up he told me I’d have to call chownow I then asked if he had the number and he said no I’d have to look online. I then told him I didn’t see a number to contact he then told me he had a bunch of tickets and now they are getting pushed (making it seem like I was being a bother to him) I explained to him I couldn’t find a number as I was trying to multitask and get ahead of the delivery and at this point i do admit I was upset because of his poor customer service.
Long story short the manager cancelled our order without informing us I never once said I wanted my order cancelled. ChowNow showed that our ordered got delivered I contacted ChowNow to tell them we didn’t receive anything my husband called fattys (the person who answered I cannot confirm who it was) told my husband yeah we talked to you guys earlier and since you hung up we called your order.
I’m HIGHLY disappointed in the customer service especially because we had 3 little kids that had to wait for nothing. Had we known it was cancelled we could have gotten them situated...
Read moreWe love Fatty’z and order it very often. The food is amazing but the reason for this rating is solely due to the poor customer experience that I received over the phone. I ordered through the slice app around 5:15 and it estimated my delivery time to be around 6:37 at the latest, which I expected on a busy Friday night. At 6:22 I was alerted that my order was on the way. 30 minutes go by and still no pizza. My husband called the restaurant and no answer. The slice support person called the restaurant and no answer. I called and finally got through and spoke with a girl who couldn’t find my name on an order so she passed me off to someone who deals more with the slice app. He was extremely rude when I calmly explained that I was told my order was on it’s way almost 40 minutes ago at this point, and he proceeded to tell me that the driver just left and it will get there when it gets there and hung up. Shortly after the call my order arrived. The Pizzas were over all delicious and still hot and the customer service from the delivery guy was great as always. My biggest complaint is don’t tell people to use the slice app if you aren’t going to estimate an accurate wait time and don’t let people know their orders are on the way when they are in fact not. I completely understand being busy but being completely rude to someone nicely explaining a situation is...
