Was staying at the hotel in which this restaurant belongs to, and decided to dine here for the convenience as there aren't too many other dinner options nearby, or would require a bit of a drive to get to. It was rather quiet and empty on a Monday night, and so we were seated promptly.

My partner and I ordered the wagyu tartare, paella, and flan for dessert. I can't in all honesty say that I recommend these dishes. I felt like each fell short of the price it was set at.

The tartare wasn't anything special or notable--portion was a bit small, traditionally flavored with mustard, capers, and served with an egg yolk brushed sesame cracker that didn't hold its crisp well, and went soggy because of the egg yolk.

Paella was a bit odd to me--I haven't had a paella made with pasta noodles before, but wasn't a fan of the texture or the flavoring/seasoning--it was very sweet and bland. The shrimps in this paella were good though! I wish there was just more flavor, acidity, depth, umami to the dish as a whole.

Flan was dense and almost chewy? I haven't had this texture in flan before. The caramel was very bitter.

Service was great though--servers were friendly and quick to change out silverware and plates in between...

Hotel Dining

There have been a smattering of modern luxury hotels opening on the Peninsula including the Ameswell, The Park James, Hotel Citrine, Nobu Hotel and now the Shashi Hotel

As business and leisure travel slowly ramps up, these hotels may be preparing for an increase in visitors locally but also have covered their bases with new bars and restaurant offerings for locals

We stopped by Broma, the newest restaurant at the Shashi Hotel. The chef formerly headed Michelin star Chez TJ and now has opened this Spanish Portuguese spot that offers both prix fixe and a la carte options

We stopped by for drinks and small bites and found an elevated ambiance with tasty entrees and refreshing drinks

We especially loved the dessert and the oysters were ultra fresh

📷 Market Oysters $24 half dozen, mignonette, cocktail sauce / Alentejo Pork Cheeks and Clams $32 tahini, tzatiki, herb oil / Pistachio Tartlet $14 ~ pistachio praline, ginger, cardamon

Fantastic little dining spot. We had a nice intimate table for six people and we were never wanting for anything except more delicious food. All the dishes were amazing and we just wish that we had enough steak to go around the table for six people. We had the tasting menu and were completely full before the final two dishes came out and dessert. It was weird that for our party of six we had two of every dish, except for when the steak came out and there’s only one steak. That was the one dish we could’ve really used two of. The chocolate mousse you can also see look like someone took a bite out of it instead of just being the whole plate. Overall, it was a wonderful menu and a wonderful tasting and we would definitely come back, but probably stick to the muscles and the steak.

We just came to Broma for date night and had a really good experience. We came at 6pm on a Friday night and it wasn't busy yet so we got to enjoy a quiet environment. We ordered the croquetas de pollo, jamon, shishito peppers, pork shank, and basque cheesecake. Everything was good and the portions weren't too small to us, like some people complained about. The croquettes were definitely our favorite - crispy with a bit of kick. The pork shank was massive so we were super full. The only thing I probably could have skipped was the cheesecake which was good but not necessarily unique to this restaurant. In terms of service, all the staff was very attentive and even though they automatically add a 20% service charge which could be a turn off, we genuinely didn't mind.
