I hadn’t been back to this place in a very long time, and I decided to bring my wife. As soon as we walked in, it felt like a flashback to my childhood. The place hasn’t changed much at all—still the same charm—but very clean and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. I highly recommend asking for the very spicy sauce on the side—it’s incredible! Customer service was amazing as well. I had a chance to speak with the owner and her daughter, and sadly, the city wants to knock this place down. This restaurant has been here since I was born and has been part of the community for decades. It’s heartbreaking that a Hispanic-owned restaurant with so much history may only have a year left. Please come support this place while you still can—you’ll love the food and the people just as much as I did.

Paying extra for a chips/salsa refill is kind of sad, but the Mexican food is very good here. Los Portales is solid Mexican food in the area. They are inexpensive compared to other food options in the area. I’ve tried the Los Portales Super Burrito and Margarita. The wet-style burrito was delicious and filling— yes, loaded with meat. The sauce seemed tomato-based and had a slight kick of spice. The menu was extensive and it was hard to choose. I was happy with the burrito and margarita. There is one complimentary basket of chips and salsa. The downside is having to pay for a refill of chips! They are family oriented and the service is great. Parking is very easy in the lot as it’s in a nearly abandoned plaza.

Visiting this Mexican restaurant was an absolute delight. The moment you step in, you're transported to a vibrant and cozy Mexican pueblo. The ambiance is a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, making it ideal for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings. The service deserves special mention. The staff is not only attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They guided us through a culinary journey, recommending dishes that perfectly suited our preferences. Their warm smiles and prompt service added to the overall experience. Now, let's talk about the food - oh, the food! Each dish was a masterpiece of flavors. From the tangy ceviche to the smoky and tender carne asada, every bite was a revelation. And the margaritas? Divine! This restaurant is a gem for anyone seeking an authentic Mexican experience. Whether you're a foodie, a tequila enthusiast, or simply looking for a great time, this place checks all the boxes. Can't...

So to start this review is my own opinion and I recommend that you try any place once and form your own opinion.

Food: I had the three items combo: shredded beef tostada, beef tamale and a chimmy changa. It was fantastic! Everything tastes fantastic and prices are fair.

Alcohol: this place has the best darn margarita that I have ever had. Sal knows how to make em really good. They are dangerous and so delicious.

Service: Was fantastic. All of the staff are welcoming and warm. They have created an environment that makes you feel like family and you really feel like you are at a friend's house getting some authentic food.

Atmosphere: It was very warm and welcoming.

Overall:

I highly recommend this place. It's family run and we can use more of those especially if they have great food and top quality service. Definitely deserve support and...
