I'll start by mentioning the only good thing about our experience the service. Our server was extremely nice and attentive. Now comes the bad and there was a lot. To begin with before even entering the restaurants a sign is posted stating that no one wants to work anymore (see attached picture) as someone who had made a career out of the hospitality industry this strikes me as extremely disrespectful. In my personal experience the reason a small business loses their staff is always due to management. Those at the top need to take responsibility for their own staffing issues and acknowledge that if they can't keep staff it is systemic problems within the establishment. Second the food was extremely poorly prepared. I like to believe this was due to understaffing in the kitchen and probably more likely the management forcing the kitchen to use sub par ingredients due to cost. All our dishes were bland as could be and extremely watery. Finally, and I cannot emphasize this enough this restaurant clearly has a strong history in the area and has the potential to come back if management, mainly the owner, chooses to listen to their staff rather then blaming others. I really don't want to see a small business fail, but it was clear from the moment I walked in that the issues they are currently struggling with come from the top and unless something changes we will see this...
Read moreFirst, let me state that the waitress was phenomenal. She was very receptive to our large party’s request. The atmosphere inside the restaurant has a comfy, home-like Italian feel to it. I agree with another reviewer though, having a sign in your restaurant that says, “Be patient, no one wants to work anymore.” is EXTREMELY tacky. Everyone has the same issues with regards to Post- Covid. Now, as far as the food, appetizers were hit and miss. The zucchini sticks were amazingly long pieces, but underwhelmingly undercooked. There was no crisp to the pieces. The stuffed banana peppers were the highlight of the meal for me! Delicious and had a nice heat to the pepper. Now, unfortunately the peppercorn steak, was almost inedible :/ Partly my fault for reading the menu incorrectly, but a peppercorn crusted steak usually has some peppercorns attached to it. My steak was drowned in the creamy sauce, making the steak soggy, yes soggy. Hopefully they scale back the sauce on the steak. It is a local place, and they have been in business forever, so the regulars are going to be regulars. Just make sure you read over the menu, and if you have requests the friendly wait staff is very...
Read moreThis review is for two visits. One was to the bar side and the other as part of a group. Both were mediocre and so i leave feedback in hopes that things will get better next time.
On the bar side for dinner service was slow but there were many regulars. I had the gnocci which had a great sauce on good gnocci. The regulars received refills while i did not. Even though i wanted more wine i was never asked. I thought maybe i was there on an off night.
I returned with a group of +30. They limitted the menu to two items. I picked the namesake chicken marsalla. I could not taste the wine in the sauce. The chicken did not absorb the flavors of the sauce. Its almost like they cooked them separately. The server was overwhelmed yet did a good job trying to keep up. The lunch went over by nearly an hour longer than expected. By the time desserts came out many in our party had to get back to work and could not enjoy. My wifes meal was mixed up but the server took care of this quickly. Our server was great but...
