I ordered takeout: chicken with snow peas and I added cashews. It is NOT noted on the menu that this dish is made with white sauce rather than brown sauce. I, unfortunately, discovered this when I got the order home. The dish has no flavor, whatsoever. I called the restaurant to speak to them about my order. The response I got was:
"White sauce is light, most people like brown sauce. That's why we put the soy sauce in there. It will help."
Wow. So $14 for chicken, a bunch of white vegetables (bamboo shoots, water chestnuts), a couple of snow peas, and some cashews tossed in a translucent, slimy, tasteless coating. Super appetizing. No, I don't think soy sauce will help but, thanks. 👍🏻
EDIT: After calling to be sure I wasn't over-charged for this inedible mess, I was given more excuses by a male employe:
"We can make dishes with any sauce you'd like but the menus aren't updated so, no, it doesn't say on the menu that the dish you ordered comes in white sauce. In the future, ask what sauce the dish is in when you're ordering."
So I asked "if you know it was your lack of information that caused the problem, why not just replace the dish?" He just kept repeating that he was sorry but offered no compensation. At that point, I was done. Then the same man called back and informed me that the chef offered me $7 toward a new meal.
Honestly, after all of the run-around and the lack of concern, I have no desire to give more money to this establishment. Paying an extra $7 would mean that I paid $21 for an edible dish. Again, no thank you. Red Tea House is right down the hill. Do yourself a favor and go there, instead.
EDIT 2:
To the owner,
I don't think you understand how this works. I called you twice to speak to someone about the poor quality of the dish and the lack of information on your menu. I was told by two different employees that they were not willing to rectify the situation in any way. You were lucky that I picked up the phone when your employee called back to tell me that you would compensate me for "half of the dish".
Understand, I am not obligated to be satisfied your request for more money (as your offer was to pay $7, rather than $14 for a new dish). Also understand that I am not obligated to answer the phone when you call me "numerous times" (it was at least 3!). I am a customer, I was busy, and it was harassing, to be honest.
I'm sorry that you find a customer who is dissatisfied with your lack of professionalism and underhanded business practices "contemptuous". I think that says more about you than it...
Read moreI work in Greentree and have for about 4 or 5 years. I had always thought the choices for Chinese and Sushi were Angkor, Phong Mae, and Red Tea House. Maybe Sesame Inn if you can handle the drive to Mt. Lebo. All of them are adequate but none of them blew me away.
Then last week a co-worker told me to try OSAKA. The name is a Japanese city so I expected a Japanese joint or Pan-Asian restaurant.
Instead...What I got was the BEST CHINESE I HAVE EVER HAD this side of Pittsburgh. Rivaled only by Sesame Inn (on their good days) this place does it RIGHT. The flavors are top notch and well nuanced, homemade Wonton soup which is brown not yellow, what appear to be homemade spring rolls, sauces which are deep and flavorful with hints of garlic, ginger, sesame, and soy, ((but NOT chock full of ketchup, bbq sauce or sugar like the cheap places do)), fresh made to order sushi with sushi chef on site, and relatively fair prices. The staff is also very pleasant and the owners/managers greet and thank me personally every time I come and go. Atmosphere is that of a clean, updated Chinese lunch spot. Menu is typical Chinese restaurant "list-style" with choices of veggie/chicken/beef/shrimp/combo but also has a lot of good strong choices in the Chef special. Lunches are cheap and well portioned with a soup or egg roll for free.
THIS IS THE SPOT FOR GOOD CHINESE IN GREENTREE!! I just learned about this spot Monday and so far I've eaten there every day this week except for one. Food served HOT and FRESH. Only dislike was the fried rice I got on tuesday, wasnt the best (too many onions, not enough egg) but that's a very small negative against a TON of VERY STRONG positives!! This place can go toe-to-toe with Sesame Inn any day of the week and might even edge them out if their food stays as good and delicious as it has been this week. DO NOT HESITATE TO TRY OSAKA!!! (they have a decent stock of liquor behind the bar too, if...
Read moreOn two separate occasions, we had disrespectful/offensive experiences with one of the waitresses. We enjoy ordering extra food for leftovers, so we usually order an extra dish to take home. The first experience was when someone in our party ordered two dishes and the waitress proceeded to stare at us in disbelief with her mouth open for several seconds. Then, on a separate occasion about a week later, the same waitress took our order. This time, a different person in our party ordered two dishes to if she would react differently. She again proceeded to stare, and then said “You’re really hungry…huh” in a very condescending tone. On this same occasion, our chicken came out pink, raw. When we called her over, she told us that it is chicken thigh and is supposed to be that color, and did not offer any help. We have ordered chicken thigh many times and we know what color it is supposed to be. This was raw.
You would think that the business would be thankful for a larger food order, but instead they are very judgmental and make the customer feel very offended. We are extremely disappointed as we used to go here often, but we will unfortunately not be returning or giving them any of...
