Clean restaurant in all areas, including the restrooms. Good looking bar area, with TV screens. Not sure what they show. Attentive, cheerful wait staff. We had our choice of tables, and our needs were filled quickly and eagerly. I'll probably return to try the place again. I ordered the "drunken clams", which are clams in the shell, served over pasta, with (as I recall) a delicious garlic/butter/parsley sauce. A side salad came with it, as did a generous supply of garlic bread (this is GOOD garlic bread). My clam dinner was prepared well and was tasty except for one thing - SAND. Sand, and plenty of it. There was a shallow layer of it in the bottom of the dish when I finished. The meal was a gritty experience, but it was tasty. If you're eating at a beachside vendor wagon you should expect sand, but at a place like this I'd expect them to purge the sand from the littleneck clams. But it was quite tasty! One more important thing - you will be charged extra if you use a credit card. I know that credit card fees and "convenience charges" have become de rigueur among some establishments, but it is in no way convenient for me to pay extra for the honor of using the current standard of payment in the USA. Since this was a first visit, I'm giving them 4-stars. My friends recommended "Orlies" wholeheartedly, so this experience was...
Read moreI made the mistake of stopping here, it looked good based on reviews and I guess there is not much to choose from in the area. The pizza was the worst pizza I have ever had in my life. The crust was clearly frozen and tasted worse than the pizza I had in elementary school. Not what I expect from an Italian restaurant. The gnocci was OK. The fried calamari was mediocre. Our server was nice but the food took an hour to come out (and it was not busy). The hostess was not good, I asked her if they had pizza for dinner and she said she didn't know I would have to ask my server. Seems like she could have just asked them for us that's what a good hostess would do. Alas. And it was kinda comical when the server brings my kids a pizza with no plates. I asked, how about some plates. He says good idea and brings appetizer plates which were half the size of the pizza. We had about three slices of pizza left over and I hate to waste food, but the pizza here belongs in the compost bin not in anyone's mouth. The pink lemonade was the...
Read moreService was incredibly slow for a Thursday night, after the dinner rush. French onion soup wad initially served without cheese, and waiter had to be taught by the bartender how to make it. Lasagna was dry, no sauce in it whatsoever from cooking, and had sauce added later. Top of lasagna might as well have been rubber, and the meat was unseasoned hamburger meat. Salad that came with dinner was a sad little thing, we were especially amused by the half of a grape tomato that was placed on it. I fared better than my wife by ordering the fried fish (which obviously came out of a freezer from their delivery but were good for what they were) and french fries which apparently were cut from potatos on site and...
