I am writing a review based solely on the food I ordered through DoorDash: kimchi bibimguksu and Veggie Pancakes.
The order arrived promptly and was prepared so fast, I couldn't believe the app. I haven't been inside this restaurant, and it was only then that it dawned on me that this is a fast, eat-and-go type place that's great for a hurried weekday lunch.
The food is good! It's not 5-star chef greatness obviously, but for the price (8.99 for the noodles and 4.99 for Veggie pancakes), it was a good deal with good quality. The food reminds me so much of corner restaurants in Korea, which I frequented when I lived there. No fuss, no frills, tastes like a loving Korean mother made it. It is exactly the food I enjoy.
I do wish there was more kimchi in the noodles, but otherwise, it was tasty and a perfect accompaniment for a hot summer day. The texture of the noodles were on point. The sauce had a punchy kick, but not too much to drown out the sesame taste. The veggie pancakes needed more green onions and more savory punch, but was also good otherwise.
The packaging was well done. There were no spills, and they packaged the sauce separate from the noodles, as should be the case.
The restaurant's menu on the app was pretty simple. You won't find stews here, but if you are craving for a quick taste of Korea without breaking the bank, this restaurant provides it. Honestly, I just ordered because I was too lazy to make noodles at home. I was ready to be disappointed, but the restaurant proved me wrong.
Give it a try. If you are new to Korean cuisine, they have the usual foreigner-friendly dishes that would jump start your tastebuds and get you hooked on...
Read moreWhile the concept of Bibim Town is appealing, my recent experience fell short of my expectations. Overall, the dishes I tried were underwhelming, lacking the vibrancy and flavor I associate with Korean cuisine.
The biggest letdown was the pervasive sogginess that affected multiple dishes. The veggies, normally a textural highlight, were limp and watery. The kimchi pancakes, which should be crispy and savory, were sadly saturated and lacked any real kimchi punch. The dumplings, too, suffered the same fate, their wrappers falling flat and flavorless.
The rice cake stew, while edible, failed to impress. It was more of a simmered mix of ingredients than a flavorful, cohesive dish. I missed the depth and complexity I typically find in Korean stews.
Bibim Town has some work to do in terms of texture and taste. Addressing the sogginess issue and infusing dishes with bolder, more authentic flavors would go a long way in improving the overall experience.
Also, the serving station for the veggies was literally bowls of veggies sitting on ice. They don’t not look appealing and unfortunately tasted...
Read moreI went because others gave this place such glowing reviews but was disappointed on many levels. The staff did not greet when we walked in. They were busy doing something else. They did not bother to explain how the ordering worked. They could have explained when we entered that they would not be coming to us to take our orders but we had to go to the counter. They require payment upfront. This isn't necessarily a problem but I felt pressured to pay the tip upfront using the kiosk. They bring the food but pretty much everything else is self-service, getting water/tea, boxes for leftovers. I did not know this until I had paid for the food and already had given them a generous tip. They are staffed by gen Z kids. They did not have the proper attitude, did not thank for the purchase nor were they very helpful. They acted busy for some reason, I did see some tables need to be cleaned up but they were just left as they were. The food was rather disappointing as well. Bibimbop should include soup but didn't, the rice was not cooked well...
