I would recommend literally ANY OTHER collision repair shop. My husband and I chose Crash Champions because it was a State Farm Selected Service shop. Our Jeep was in an accident on 6/30. It took Crash Champions over a week to get the estimate to us (granted the holiday weekend). That was only the beginning of my frustration with them. We were given an estimated completion date of 7/31, but told by the repair shop that it likely would be sooner; they just like to overestimate time, which I appreciated. However, that was not the case. I would reach out periodically, as there was NO communication from Crash Champions. When I reached out on Monday, July 28th, to confirm that it was still looking like we would have our car back on that Thursday, they said yes, all is on track, and they would call me on Wednesday to let me know a time we can pick up. At 3 PM on Wednesday 7/30, I still hadn't received a call, so I reached out to them to find out a time to pick up our vehicle the next day. I was told that they had just received a part on Tuesday, and so the vehicle wouldn't be ready until the following Thursday. I asked why I hadn't received a call, as we needed to figure out a method of transportation, and they didn't know. During our entire experience with Crash Champions, we never received any acknowledgment of their lack of communication or their inability to meet the times they provided us. The following week, when I again called them to figure out what the issue was, they shared that now the car wouldn't start, so they had calibration come out that day. I called the next time and was told "somehow calibration was never given our keys" (again, no accountability), and so they'll be back the next day to run a diagnostic. The following day, when calibration came out, I was told they THINK it might be a certain part, so it has been ordered and will be put in the next day. Turns out the part they guessed was the issue was NOT. Delaying our vehicle completion date yet again to 8/14. I called every day and was told things are finally on track. I went to pick up our vehicle on the 14th, and when I started the vehicle and turned on the AC, there was a loud, noticeable hissing, and the AC would not blow cool air. I asked someone to come out and check it out. The first guy who came out was less than helpful; he told me he heard nothing, just the blowing of the AC. I insisted there was a hissing sound that had not been there before this accident, and he kept denying it. I then had to ask for a second person to come out and provide their opinion. After ten minutes of me running my vehicle, another mechanic came out. This young man was more helpful, and agreed that there was an odd hissing noise, and recognized that he vehicle was not blowing cool air. He checked under the hood and offered to take the vehicle back and check it out in the morning. So I was told my vehicle was repaired, when it really wasn't. We were FINALLY able to pick up the car the following afternoon, and I was given a sketchy answer when I asked what the problem was that did not make sense with what I had noticed, especially after consulting with several other mechanics. I specifically asked if I had been exposed to a Freon leak, as that was an immediate concern for me and my unborn baby (as I am five months pregnant). They immediately dismissed and denied it, but I am still unsure. We were able to drive the vehicle off the lot and noticed almost immediately that the steering wheel controls (radio, CarPlay, and dash controls) were not working at all. Surprise, surprise, Crash Champions returned our vehicle YET AGAIN when it was not completely repaired. I have worked with my insurance, which is now allowing me to take this to another mechanic, as this experience was truly awful and a waste of time and energy. In summary- DO NOT EVER bring your vehicle here if you want timely, communicative, honest, and competent repairs completed on...
Read moreTo simply state I am pleased is woefully inadequate and would be a disservice to the extraordinary service I received from the Crash Champions Mundelein team.
On 06Jul2020, a hit & run drunk driver (with no insurance) rear-ended my car and spun me around 180 degrees. The drunk driver's vehicle was an older SUV. Needless to say, there was considerable damage to the rear of my vehicle. My car has had a lot of custom work and is my baby, so it was tough to see it damaged so badly.
My insurance company gave me 3 options to select from: after some research, I chose Crash Champions (Batavia). Dyllon, at the Batavia location was so proactive and resourceful in getting me connected to the Crash Champions Mundelein location, which was a certified Mercedes Benz repair location. *Quick shout out to the Batavia team :) *
At my first encounter with the Crash Champions Mundelein team, I spoke with Jesse (Manager). Jesse spent upwards of 40 minutes just to explain how his team worked, what I was looking at as far as timelines, next steps, etc. I was immediately in awe of his dynamic level of support and engagement.
Jesse in turn, connected me with Dominic, who oversaw the day-to-day repair updates/progress of my vehicle. Dominic is a one man rockstar :) Like Jesse, Dom was incredibly attentive, kind, & knowledgeable. Dom gave me real time updates, I never had to track him down, I never felt rushed, nor pressured to make an uninformed decision. Dom worked hard with the Mundelein team to source all of the parts, which wasn't easy!
At an in-person visit to check-in with Dom/team, I was able to meet two contenders for G.O.A.T. of auto welding and paint work - Steve-O (body work/welding) and Kevin (paint). :-) I was able to shake their hands and tell them how much I appreciated their time and looked forward to the final product.
Approximately 3 months since the accident, my car was ready, and 2 weeks ahead of schedule! The work done by Steve-O, Kevin and the entire crew is nothing short of other wordly! How on earth did they complete a repair, that looked BETTER than the original body work?!?!? Mind blown!
Attached are pics of the car post-accident, while in the repair shop, and upon delivery. The last pic doesn't do justice to how freaking awesome the repair was! When you have an inspector that couldn't even tell the difference, Steve-O has to be a wizard! LOL And Kevin & team, with the paint and shine-----upon delivery at Crash Champions Mundelein, it looked like I was looking into a mirror when I glanced at the door body panels!
2020 has been a ROUGH year, and it may be so odd for some folks to understand what I am about to say, but despite the drunk driver hitting me, I am grateful for what that accident brought into my experience--- the team at Crash Champions Mundelein. This car holds significant sentimental value to me, so getting it repaired was a top priority, and to say that I am pleased, is TRULY an understatement with respect to the care, attention, craftsmanship and customer service provided by the Crash Champions Mundelein team!
To anyone needing a repair following an unfortunate accident, as you research body shops, trust Crash Champions Mundelein. I drove an hour (one way) to get to this location and would do so again without question if needed. Because I received AMAZING service, it would be so bogus of me not to leave a legitimate testimony of how awesome this team was. Jesse, Dominic, Steve-O, Kevin, Alonso, and the ENTIRE Mundelein team, you guys are freaking...
Read moreI can't stop getting angry, I went to leave my car for a granite repair estimate on Monday morning the 14th since my insurance company recommended this shop, they kept the car for 5 days, on Thursday I received a call from the insurance company telling me that my 2021 Toyota Highlander car was a total loss since the cost of repairs was more than 75% of its value, I didn't believe what they had told me since I had two other estimates from different shops with a cost much less than what they wanted to charge, but since my insurance company works with that shop I had to agree. On Friday morning we received a call from my adjuster explaining the options and he told me I could go pick up the car, when I arrived the person told me that he could not bring me the car because it was not clean, they had to wash it and return until Monday, I got upset and told him if I could take it home and wash it, she told me to come back in two hours, I returned for the car at 4:45 in the afternoon, on Saturday my son checked his wallet that he had left since the previous Sunday in the glove compartment of the car with 500 dollars, when he checked his wallet they had taken his money, they only left his coins, I felt very angry seeing my son cry, he tells me dad they stole my money, the money that I have saved for Christmas. How angry I am with this place. If you are professionals and have a little shame, you can check your cameras and find the person responsible. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 I went back to the shop to speak to a supervisor about it and becka the girl that took my case said that they weren’t responsible on the stuff that got lost. She was supper nervous when I asked her about the money. She scratching her head and touching her neck. I just asked if you could check the cameras and she said she’s not responsable of lost stuff. If you guys think of coming to this place do NOT leave anything valuable...
