Jake Moran's — Restaurant in Mundelein

While driving home from work in Vernon Hills I drove past a bunch of smells. One stood out more than others, a nice juicy burger. Speaking with my SO, we discussed options. We researched for the best burger in Mundelien. As we were on Google Jake Moran's popped up. We wanted to get out to enjoy the beautiful night in September. We noticed we need gas so we stopped and the cashier was a local and knew of Jake Moran's as well. We found out the drinks are top notch and the cheeseburger is fire! (Exact quote) After hearing that our stomachs got super excited!!! Once we arrived Ceasar greeted us with such delight! We already felt welcome and actually sat at the bar we normally would have sat at the tables to browse Reddit. Enjoying our Coor's Light and Tito's with Lemons, their huge screen television had the Cubs game on for us to watch and we stayed off our phones while we conversed with Ceaser and ourselves about making plans for our new home we just moved into 4 months ago. We loved getting to know the staff they truly have passion in their food and business!! Our food was given to us when they knew it would be the best and the Chicken Fingers were ON POINT! We haven't had them in so long, the ranch was home made the crispness of the crunch into the chicken was perfect! Coleslaw was not dry and was the perfect amount of sauce! We had 3 I ate all 3! I loved so much! Everything got served at one time which we said which ever comes out first. All of them did. HeHe we loved that! We love variety and usually share our meal. Halvesies! Hehe. The Patty Melt I devoured half in 2 mins! The onions were carmelized and small so you had a lot versed maybe 5 like normal places do! I love loading it on! The bread had herbs and was fantastic! Honestly didn't want to share hehe They didn't ask if we wanted ketchup and mustard and salt and pepper he just brought everything and was very attentive. Eric doesn't like lettuce, tomatoe and onion on his Burger so we got it plain. Which I rather try anyways. He gave me his half Cheeseburger and my mouth fell in love with the bread it was soft and held the meat and cheese from grease. (Not a fan of grease) his was Medium-Well and the juice nicely in my mouth made the cheese enhance with the Cheddar. Usually I stay away from onion rings because I don't like soggy ones. These oh my goodness so crunchy and the BEST ONION RING! Eric took 3 and I actually stared him down like Nnnooooooooooo! Lol Then I (not him) remembered we can come back! Hehe Best looking pickles I have ever seen given to us! Oh my goodness 5/5 lovely atmosphere with and local that we rather support than chains. We both work for local small businesses and to find it on the first shot really surprised us! I want to go back for that Patty Melt! Please get one and the fries are crisp not soggy. Which who doesn't love? Hehe As we were checking out the game the chef started to tell us about his Chili they were making for tomorrow. I loved the chunks of peppers and tomatoes rather than thick chili! I enjoy it to be soupy not a paste. 5/5 chili man! Way to go! Over all loved the experience as soon as we opened the door to leaving full with a special chili spice to talk about in the car how fall is here and how we can make so many soups! I didn't eat any food so I gave 3 stats, I was there for the slots! This place is nice, great selection of games to play, AC is on SUPER COLD! Blows right on you so wear your thin coat! Only thing I didn't like was some lady wanted to use the machine I was on but when I was done she never asked me was I done. She walked to her punk husband and said "he's just sitting there and I wanna play!" Now I heard her but she decided to go to another guy who worked there and said she wanted to play where I was. Now 2/6 are in use, one im sitting at and just took my phone out. Next thing I know the husband is asking me from the bar am I playing? I went in on a Sunday evening around 7. For what it is, i give it 5 stars. Nothing bad to say about this place. Quick service, which was also lasting and attentive. Convinced to purchase a burger. It was suprisingly really great. Did not expect quality food from a smaller bar. The burger belongs at a restaurant for $13 but you can find it here at Jake Moran's for like $8. Cheddar was perfectly melted, bacon is cooked along with the patty, bun very soft but slightly crisp on the edges as if it was toasted just before serving. Ketchup was refrigerated, which was very nice because I've never known any business to do that. Fries crispy outside with softer center.
