Tighthead Brewing Company — Restaurant in Mundelein

In the past, we have been causal customers. Always good beer, and I enjoy when there’s a cider option. Nice, attentive staff and great service. This past Sunday, we had reserved the back room for a private event. I would highly recommend Tighthead for your event! They were prompt with their email correspondences, and so incredibly helpful, patient and laidback. The staff (manager and bartender) were amazing. We stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon. The live music was a bit loud for us, but the rest of the patrons seemed to enjoy it.

Beerwise, the Comfortably Blonde was our favorite. It had a nice dry body with a hoppy finsh. Other notable brews were the Scarlet Fire, which was malty with a spicy hop finish. The Irie IPA was very bitter (100 IBUs) with some buttery notes and a dry finish. Finally, we liked the Barleywine (which is unusual as it's not generally our favorite style). It was fruity (peach and apricot), though the finish was a bit hot (i.e. boozy, which is typical of the barleywine style).

Best brewery in the area with the biggest variety of styles and flavors. The staff is friendly and the service is great. Leah, the manager, runs the place like no other. She's always on top of things regardless of how busy she is, whether filling orders, washing glasses, answering the phone, etc. and still has time to be friendly and hold a conversation with customers. Not to take away from the rest of the staff, they're great too. But she's a big reason why the business does as well as it does. Definitely worth visiting if you haven't...
