Boro Bowls — Restaurant in Murfreesboro

I really like this place but it seems like when I ask for slight modifications, the owner gives off a little negative vibe. Twice I have ordered a smoothie and it has been so thick that I cannot slurp it through the straw. When I brought it back, she didn’t seem too happy about adding more liquid to it, and I made sure I asked very nicely. Also, I absolutely love the OG Açaí bowl but this time I recently had some dental work and the bowl is a little too cold. I simply and nicely asked her if she can just put it in the microwave for just a few seconds to ease the chill a bit. She countered my simple request with “it’s going to melt” and “it will warm the bananas”. That’s exactly how I wanted it. She made me feel like I have to argue to get my simple request fulfilled. She finally did put it in the microwave for me, but I saw her and another worker eye’ing each other like my request was ridiculous or something, I don’t know, that’s just how it felt to me. I usually have a great expierance but when I came in this time not so great. I payed what I normally pay which is 31 dollars for a açaí bowl only because I like to add extra almond butter and add Nutella. When I tell them to add the extra Nutella I payed for I tell them to add it to the bottom and top. when I received my order they only put it at the top and they also only put litreally what looked like 4 little thin lines. So when I told them they said they couldn’t do anything about it and that’s how much you get for $1. I was already annoyed and frustrated and ended up paying another dollar. I love this spot. It truly feels like this was the kind of place we were missing in the Boro. Healthy, fresh, whole ingredients that I feel good about putting into my body. All of their bowls are so yummy and pretty it’s always a treat to visit.

My only critique would be the plastic bowls…is it possible to find biodegradable instead? I know we are in the south and recycling isn’t a “thing” here, but it is sad to see so many plastic bowls going in and out of this kitchen, and then thrown into the trash- not even a recycling bin to dispose. If they could shift their perspective to be more environmentally friendly that would be so amazing for the earth, the community, and the overall Boro...
