I think that everyone should at least give Mr. Brews a shot, with the right expectation. Here is my thoughts about what has the potential to be a great spot in Murfreesboro.
The service: Great. I walked in and was able to get a spot at the bar with very little wait. It appears to be around 60% occupancy, but I was greeted within a minute of arriving. The wait staff and bartender were very quick, kind and very receptive.
The Beer: Great. From what I could see, they had approximately 52 taps, which 22 of them were from Tennessee. The representation was great to see and it was clear that they took care of their lines (they are still new, so it may be that they've not had to replace/clean them often yet). A wide variety that I could see of styles.
The Food: Okay. I got the Cheese Curds, Peanut Buster (sub beef for turkey), with fries (coated in cajun seasoning). The curds were good, albeit the batter seemed a bit sweet for me. The consistency of the curds and the batter indicate (at least to me) that they were prepared onsite. The Peanut Buster was the low point for me, unfortunately. The turkey burger patty was a bit dry (but this is common for non-beef burger), but where I take real umbrage was in the peanut butter spread. It was a bit grainy and lacked spice. I wish it had a bit more of a creamy consistency, and there there was a variance of texture on the burger. The high point was the fries! Steak style straight cut fries, that were cooked perfectly with a good amount of seasoning that didn't distract from the fries.
The atmosphere: Good. It's what I consider pretty standard for a brewpub or bar; white walls, brewery tins, barrel lights, wood and metal chairs/stools. It's good, but doesn't really stand out much.
The price: Less than okay, but not bad. Beers were $8.00 a piece, which is pretty high for Murfreesboro. Most spots that focus on beer, the price point is from $6.50 to $7.50. The burger was just okay, but I dislike the idea of an upcharge for fries. The thing I really took issue with was a 3% "non-cash" charge on the bill. While I understand this, I could not find anywhere this has been disclosed and it's a bit disingenuous. My total was around $44 for two beers, cheese curds, burger and fries.
Overall: 2.75 / 5.00 (rounded up because Google doesn't allow for quarter points). I would recommend Mr. Brews, as long as you understand a few things: the food may not blow you away, the prices are going to leave you a little flabbergasted, but the atmosphere, staff, and beer selection...

This was, without question, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.
It started with my chicken sandwich arriving with a completely blackened, charred top bun. Not slightly over-toasted — burnt. How that made it out of the kitchen is beyond comprehension. Any halfway competent cook or manager should have caught it. When I pointed it out, the server admitted it was burnt and offered to replace it — fine. Mistakes happen.
But it got worse.
I took one bite of the sandwich and the chicken was so dry and rubbery it pulled the entire piece of meat out of the bun. It was inedible — tough, overcooked, and tasted like it had been sitting around for hours. No way that was freshly prepared.
At this point, it was obvious the kitchen had no standards, and I told the server I didn’t want a replacement. If burnt bread and chewy, dried-out chicken is what’s considered acceptable, why would I want more of the same?
And here’s the real kicker: the manager never came to the table. Not once. The server, who was doing her job well and clearly embarrassed, was left to handle everything herself. The fact that management didn’t step in or even acknowledge the issue speaks volumes about the lack of leadership and accountability at this place.
To be clear — the problem wasn’t just the food (which was awful) — it was the complete disregard from the manager, who left their employee to take the heat for the kitchen’s incompetence.
Shame on the kitchen, shame on the manager, and shame on whoever thinks this is an acceptable way to run a restaurant. We will...
Read moreThis was the first time me and my wife tried this place. We were really excited cause it's the first time going out together in awhile without our child. We sat at our table for 20 minutes until a waiter finally came by and asked if we had be helped. This was the same guy that came by at the beginning and cleared the table and after that 3 other waitresses walked by and never acknowledged us. We were about to get up and leave until the waiter cam back. Now I want to say I don't blame the kid as he told us he was new and the place was new so there were some issues. The management needs to be blamed for this. If you allow for open sitting you should have someone making sure tables are being greeted and made sure they are assigned. After providing our order we were told many items were out of stock because the business didn't plan for how busy they have been. My wife asked for ketchup and it was never brought I got a random bottle at an empty table. I asked for 2 waters and only 1 was brought and I had to ask for another one. Again this is not the servers fault as he did say he was new but I blame the training and management. This put such a bad taste in my mouth I really don't want to go back and it sucks because overall the food was good.
Im not criticizing an establishment as someone who doesnt serve or never has served. I was a server for 6 years in many different establishments and was super...
