I recently had one of the most appalling experiences at McDonald's, an event so dreadful that it's almost beyond belief. My friend, Sarah, and I decided to grab a quick meal at our local McDonald's one afternoon. Sarah had been eagerly anticipating trying the new Grimace Shake, which she had heard rave reviews about. She was so excited, and her enthusiasm was contagious. Little did we know, this seemingly innocent craving would turn our day into an absolute nightmare.
Upon arrival, it was clear that this McDonald's was in complete disarray. The line was stretched to the door, with visibly stressed-out and disorganized staff scrambling around. Despite the chaotic atmosphere, Sarah insisted on ordering the Grimace Shake. We stood in line for nearly half an hour, enduring the stifling heat and the overpowering stench of burnt grease and old, uncleaned fryers.
When we finally reached the counter, the cashier was indifferent and inattentive. She barely acknowledged us, her focus seemingly more on her conversation with a coworker than on taking our order correctly. We placed our order and waited another twenty minutes for our food, which felt like an eternity in that oppressive environment. The restaurant was filthy, with trash strewn across tables and the floor, sticky surfaces, and a garbage bin that was overflowing, its contents spilling onto the ground.
When the Grimace Shake finally arrived, it immediately looked off. The color was an unnatural, lurid purple, and it had a bizarre, chemical odor that should have been a red flag. But Sarah, ever the optimist, took a big sip. Within minutes, she started to feel unwell. What began as mild discomfort quickly escalated to severe stomach cramps and intense nausea. We hurried to the restroom, which was even more revolting than the dining area. The toilets were unflushed, the sinks were clogged with standing, murky water, and there was no soap or paper towels. The floors were wet and slippery, covered in who-knows-what, making it a hazardous and disgusting experience.
Sarah became violently ill, vomiting repeatedly. As she did, I noticed her skin had started to break out in hives, and her face was swelling. Panicked, I sought help from the staff, but they were unresponsive and seemed annoyed by our predicament. They offered no assistance, no concern, and barely even acknowledged that a customer was in severe distress. Their cold indifference was infuriating and added to the stress of the situation.
We left the restaurant in a hurry and drove straight to the nearest emergency room. By the time we arrived, Sarah was in severe distress, her face swollen and her breathing labored. The doctors diagnosed her with a severe allergic reaction, likely triggered by something in the Grimace Shake. She was treated with antihistamines and steroids, and thankfully, she began to recover after several hours of medical care. It was a terrifying ordeal, and watching my friend suffer so much was heartbreaking.
The nightmare didn't end there. Sarah was bedridden for several days, missing work and losing wages due to the incident. She suffered from lingering symptoms, including weakness, fatigue, and occasional bouts of nausea. The experience left her physically and emotionally drained.
In an attempt to seek some form of accountability, we contacted McDonald's to report what happened. Their response was utterly disappointing. They were cold, indifferent, and unapologetic. They offered no explanation, no apology, and certainly no compensation for the trauma and medical bills that followed. Their lack of concern for customer safety and well-being was astonishing.
This experience has forever tainted our view of McDonald's. The negligence, the lack of hygiene, and the complete disregard for customer safety and satisfaction were appalling. The Grimace Shake, which was supposed to be a fun and delightful treat, turned into a horrific experience that endangered my friend's health and well-being. I cannot stress enough how disappointed and disgusted I am with McDonald's. This incident...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow. I can't believe McDonald's has let itself fall to such a level. It was 4 AM and I was headed home after a rough night, and the only 24 hour place I could think of was McDonald's. as I pull to the drive thru, I glance at the menu and after about ten seconds I decide to get a couple McDoubles from the dollar menu. My mind is set, and I'm waiting for the employee to speak to me though the drive thru window, and after about two minutes, I hear a disgruntled "What do you want" I'm a little uncomfortable, but I begin to place my order. As soon as I say McDoubles, the lady cuts me off by loudly exclaiming "It's only Breakfast right now" so I take ten more seconds to look through the breakfast items. After ordering two McGriddles instead, I make my way up to the window. The lady doesn't even acknowledge me as she snatches my card out of my hand. A minute later she hands it back to me and slams the window shut. Seconds turn into minutes, and about five later, a different teenager opens the window and tells me they're just now going to start making it, so it will be about five minutes. He follows it up by saying "But you're not really in a hurry, right? It's not like you've got anywhere to go!" As he slams the window shut. I'm assuming they're disgruntled that a customer pulled up late at night when they weren't expecting it. After what seems like a couple of hours, I finally get my two sandwiches, the teenager hands me the bag while saying "Thank you SO much for waiting." In the most sarcastic tone ever, as he scoffs and slams the window yet again. What the hell. It's two sandwiches. Rest assured I'll never be coming back to this McDonald's (or any, for that matter) ever again. Not only is the food a last resort option for me, but they don't care about customer service one bit. I'm ashamed that I pulled up to this fast food chain tonight. I should have chosen Whataburger or Jack in the Box. I regret my decision and will never make this mistake again....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorking for Uber Eats, had a delivery to make from this location to someone in Murphy, request came in to me, I was 10 minutes out... 10 Minutes!!!, I arrived and told the guy I have a pickup for an order with Ubereats. So I waited, and waited and waited, all while the mean time this guy was running around like a chicken with his cut off in his cell phone calling someone and still waiting for my order to be completed and then he goes into an office which I clearly see him still on the phone, there were two other people in the kitchen area doing God knows what, Very poorly managed team and service! Worst service and worst teamwork I have ever seen, Total time since the order was placed with Uber Eats, 20 minutes, and the order was a chicken sandwich, Side of Fries and 20 piece chicken McNuggets. Another customer came in and said no one was answering him in the drive through! There is absolutely no excuse for this! And especially since I'm representing Uber Eats, this order should have been ready to go from the moment I stepped foot in the doorway, Which had violations because the door was unlocked and there were about 5 to 6 wet floor signs blocking the door, there was a note on the door that said the lobby was closed, it was only 10 pm, not sure if that's the time they normally close it down but overall, I would give this location "no stars". They really need to step up their game, big time... I'm personally not very happy with this location and that they made me wait to do my job of delivering dinner to hungry parents and kids on UberEats. If I were in charge of this McDonald's location, I would Fire the entire overnight crew because lack of leadership, horrible customer service and no work ethic at all, and did I mention health code violations? Health department needs to come out and see this place. š”š”š”š”. Master Chef Robert Irvine would be clearly down everyone's throats if he...
