Myself, my wife and her friend were driving towards Arkansas and stopped here to grab late lunch/early dinner.....We have eaten here before while on road trips and food has always been good, like momma's or granny's home cookin !!!!!! Today was just as good, I ordered the Salisbury steak with turnip greens, carrots and green beans- extra side dish.....My wife ordered the Roast Beef platter with mashed potatoes, sweet corn, her friend ordered the Senior platter with chopped sirloin steak and green beans........the salisbury steak was excellent, my only complaint is I wish there had been a larger portion. the gravy was a very nice compliment to the steak. the turnip greens were outstanding as were the green beans with real pieces of bacon. The girls enjoyed there meals as much as I did.....The sweet peach tea was good as well, not too sweet but just right.....The rolls tasted as if mom or granny had just made them !!!!!!! Thank You Brooke- our server was nice and checked back with us a couple of times to make sure everything was good. She has served us before and was as good and nice in the past as she was today !!!!!!!! I definitely recommend this place for your dining needs especially if you need to make a pit stop adter a long drive..... My only complaint is there is only 1 bathroom and during busy times you can see 1 or 2 people waitng there turn.........They also have a store which is connected to the restaurant and sell all sorts of delectables, fudge, Granny's Cashew Crunch- highly recommended, made by a 90 yr old Oklahoma woman who uses self churned butter from their family farm to make this wonderful alternative to peanut brittle....They also sell beverages, stuff to munch on during a road trip, many different canned fruits, vegetables, jams, cheese, homemade butter, cakes, pies, fried pies, etc.....Definitely worth the time tp stop for a meal and to check out the...
Read moreThis place is the worst restaurant I have ever been to! Very rude staff!!! Waited 30 min just to get a drink order and to be acknowledged, then another 20 minutes to get our food ordered. Then our order arrives with only partial of the 2 meals out of 5 meals for my family of 5. After another 25 mins goes by.. I asked our waitress when the rest of our order was coming for my kids so we can eat together. The rude waitress walked away to go check in the back, she comes back to say "I am sorry we are busy." I spoke up and said "we are new to this restaurant. This sets a bad first impression on us. She walked away for another 7-8 min. I again mentioned to the nasty and rude waitress when is the rest of our order going to be brought so we can eat as a family. She walks away again! I actually set my stop watch to see how it takes her again.. 11 minutes later...The waitress glares at me and asked if I have ever waitressed or worked in a restaurant. I answered..." yes. I understand that the restaurant is busy, but it would have been nice to have our orders served all at once like most restaurants do." The rude waitress got mad at me and stated to me I am comping what u partially ate and don't bother coming back to the restaurant. My family would had easily spent $100 ordering breakfast food. I understand when a place gets busy, it can be hard to keep up at times, but every other waitress/restaurant acknowledges my concern and had it taken care of immediately. This place does not deserve a star.. I will never stop foot in place again.!! I will be speaking with the manager/owner soon as they open on Monday morning. Pretty sad u are a paying customer that gets asked to leave and never come back, cuz u were inquiring about your family's order. I kept calm the entire time cuz didn't want to cause a seen, my family and I walked out. NOT A GREAT...
Read moreFound this little gem on our drive to Dallas. If your looking for fancy, this is not the place for you. If your looking for some great food at a great price, I highly recommend Amish Country store & cafe. My husband had a breakfast bowl, which he loved and had leftovers for the next day. I had Salisbury steak which I have not had in years. Real mashed potatoes n gravy, chicken n dumplings with a fresh hot bun. It was absolutely delicious. Had to take the chicken n dumplings with as I was too full. They also have fresh bakery/pies/cookies/bread n rolls. It's hard to find apricot "fold over" pies. They were outstanding. There is also a full selection if fudge candies, jellies and other yummy items. We enjoyed the resteraunt enough to stop over again on our way home. It's Christmas Eve and this must be "the" place for pies. There was a steady stream of people picking up orders while we ate. Hubby changed up his previous meal to a sliced beef bowl, beef over mashed potatoes, carrots and corn. I got the same meal again. Also grabbed 2 pies and a box of cookies. Also had 5 police cars that stopped for lunch on our first stop. You know it's good when you have that many police officers stopping to eat.💕🎄 A year later and we were travelling through again so we just had to stop. Still outstanding food at really great prices. Hubby got chicken n dumplings with salad and biscuits, while I went for the Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and a side of dumplings. Also got 2 apricot and 1 peach "hand" pie.. Still a great place to...
