I had this once a long time back and all i can say is, WOW how far this establishment has fallen. The food has gone from extremely delectable, well made, and worth the money, to extremely bland, soggy, not worth the money, and riddled with obvious quality reduction tactics, used to save money by the establishment.
I will rate this experience based on the food received, because it has become obvious this place is no longer accommodated for a dine-in experience, the staff is stand-offish, and the cook doesn't look anyone in the eye. Soda machines are broken, apparently for quite some time, so long that the staff looked at me strangely when i asked for the "Large Drink" option from the menu.. they simply gestured to the refrigeration unit with cans of soda available similar pricing. Overall a very poor customer service experience.
When i went this last time, and let me be clear, i will NOT be eating here again, i ordered the Orange Flavor Chicken dinner with noodles substituted out for the rice usually served with it. At first glance the Orange Flavor Chicken looked... soggy, as if it was made with a watery flavor syrup soup that is continuously rehydrated(sometimes overhydrated) once it boils down too much on the burners. And what i saw was what i got, the usually(to my experience) pleasantly sweet/sour/citrus dish tased more sour and stale than anything else. The chicken, which i assumed to have some type of stability (i prefer crisp, but can do without), did not. It was a pile of a "Chicken" substance with the consistency of gelatinized clumps, as if the chicken wasn't cooked fresh but was taken from a warmer, flavored with the watered down syrup. It was not appealing, in the least, i can say with certainty that i can make better orange flavored chicken at my own home.
The noodles were okay, just standard pan fried flat Lo Mein noodles, with a slight pan seasoned soy sauce flavor with vegetables like cabbage, onion, and carrot mixed in. honestly nothing to complain about in this area.
The next thing i purchased was Fried Pot Stickers(or Fried Gyoza) The dish LOOKED decent, golden brown and smelled okay, however, what i thought would be a crisp yet thin wrapping, turned out to be an underfilled dumpling with a quarter inch thick wrapping that had absolutely no flavor, as if someone wrapped their gyoza in 3 water soaked tortillas (probably would have tasted better this way) and pan fried it in unseasoned canola oil, once again, not the most appetizing,
Sauce was good though, it made it slightly edible, once drenched and soaked for 5 minutes.
The last thing i ordered was a couple of egg rolls, and don't be deceived like i was, these "egg rolls" are actually poorly filled veggie rolls, no pork, no chicken, just cooked cabbage and a sprinkling of carrot. Also made with the absurdly thick wrapping, the wrapping was so thick it wasn't even cooked through completely the second egg roll i had was still cool on the inside when i bit into it even though the wrapping was piping hot. the ratio of wrapping to filling was roughly 50/50, and that to me is very telling about a restaurant.
All this being said, I , as a person, am all for providing money to support a local business, but, i draw the line at giving me INSANE stomach troubles and diarrhea for 3 consecutive days after consuming their products. I will not be returning here, for good reason, and whilst i don't live in Muskogee anymore (My mother does) i do suggest people eat here at their own risk. And to the locals who love it, good on you, you are keeping this place afloat, i admire you. But as someone who has left Muskogee and experienced, tasted, and made authentic Asian and Asian-American inspired dishes, this place isn't for me.
To those who would like VERY authentic Asian Dishes, for a very similar price, head over to Tahlequah and try Asian Star, much better food, never got food poisoning, and their consistency is A+. But beware they are...
Read moreMy wife wanted this place but I did not and here's why. They always don't give you what you want or mess up what you ordered and I told my wife I want every sauce but sweet and sour and teriyaki because of to much sugar in the sweet and sour and to much sodium in the teriyaki. I told her I don't want Chows cause they suck and China King is sooooo much better and the food is fresh, the give you what you asked for. Just all around a much better restaurant than Chows hands down!!!! So, she calls me and says they don't serve a few things anymore, what a surprise!!! Last time I asked for certain sauces and the lady to my wife she put them in there when my wife inquired, she did not so she lied, and lying to me is one of my most BIGGEST issue's with people for you lie to me once, you'll lie again. People say they're sorry please give me another chance? Nope, you get ONE chance and you wasted it so, no, no chances and that's how this place is. So, the next time my wife wants Chinese and suggest this place I'm going to tell her count me out, and actually I said that this time cause I KNEW BETTER, but there won't be a next time because if it isn't China King, then I won't WASTE MY MONEY on this place when I have given them chance after chance after chance. So, it's up to whomever reads this what you do, but as for me, well you already know and I would have rated them NEGATIVE 10 stars if that...
Read moreWent there around 9:15 on a Tuesday. While the staff was polite, they acted like I was an inconvenience when I wanted to check my order. I ordered all four appetizers they offered as well as one dinner, The chicken chow mein with sweet and sour pork to go. So the dinner was in one to go box, with the chicken chow mein being the main dish and the sweet and sour pork just being deep fried pork parts. I was told that the sweet and sour sauce I was given for my appetizer was to be put on my sweet sour pork. This is not how that works. Stop cutting corners. Sweet and sour pork was mostly dough. Chicken chow mein was mostly vegetables. With the exception of the two meat appetizers, the egg rolls and the crab rangoon were mostly dough. Very disappointing food. They add a big scoop of white rice to my order for no reason. Will not be returning. This place is a rip off. The sweet and sour pork barely has any pork in it. Mostly breading. The skewers tasted like they were made in the morning and sat under heat lamps all day. The crab rangoons are flat with almost no cream cheese or crab in them. The only thing redeeming about this meal is...
