East China — Restaurant in Myerstown

We started getting take away in the spring of 2020 when everthing started to shut down. We usually take our food over to the Myerstown Park or at the top of the mountain at one of the trail heads for the Appalachian Trail. Since I have several chronic illnesses, we usually have my Emotional Support Dog with us to help assist me with some tasks. I have some severe food allergies, so I eat a WFPB anti-inflammatory & gluten-free diet. The staff had helped me over the phone the 1st time with what was in the sauces. Unfortunately, the soy-based sauces do have barley malt in. So I always get the steamed veggies with steamed tofu & rice. The only complaint I have (with every restaurant) is that there is never enough mushrooms for me! Lol. Yesterday's dish only had 2 tiny pieces of shrooms. I forgot to ask if they could add extra. The dish usually lasts 2-3 meals for me. I do take along my Bragg's Liquid Aminos in place of their soy-based sauces. Or I DIY a Teriyaki or Miso-Orange-Ginger sauce with Bragg's seaweed sprinkles in. Our dog loves their rice & steamed broccoli & carrots. We even ask for a large container of rice on the side for the 3 of us. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of this staff helping me. I can tell you that a lot of restaurants I have been to lately claiming to cater to food allergy folks gave me my V/GF food with dairy &/or gluten in. And I have gotten sick. Wonderful! Walked in solely due to the great reviews. Placed an order for the family with the help of a young woman who works there. Oh my, it was spectacular; Hunan Beef, Happy Family, and Shrimp and Scallops in garlic sauce, egg roll, shrimp rolls, shrimp fried rice for tomorrow, and finally and most exquisitely their home made donuts(WOW)! The flavors were both bold where you want them to be, such as the Hunan Beef, and beautifully delicate in the seafood dishes. I was most surprised by their donuts! And yet the clues were there from the first bite of the meal onward. That first bite was the shrimp roll that was perfectly crispy and deliciously full of shrimp in a sublime crust. Called our order in at 3:30pm today, told order would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived at restaurant at 3:55 and was told our order would be ready in a few minutes. 20 minutes later and after several other customers arrived after us and received their order as soon as they got there, I questioned where my order was. I was told again it would be a few more minutes. Another 5 minutes went by when I was finally given my order. After getting home, one of the items I ordered, soup, was missing.
