My husband suggested this restaurant since brick oven pizza. Very poor attitude for a new business. 1st time ever there, since it was Anthony's Pan Pasta and Pizza. Bartender walking behind bar couple times, then went to the phone. (You have to order on-line for take out only). Not even a friendly hello, how can I assist you, from ANYONE who worked there. Staff hanging out at bar. Another staff member watching NFL game from behind bar instead of waiting on people. One of the female cooks from kitchen came out to the bar area to straighten out pizza/dinner orders and receipts. She had them open pizza boxes and switch around receipts/orders cause didn't have orders right. They didn't think I observed it all go down! She walked away rolling her eyes and shaking her head about them screwing up, and re-entered the kitchen. Then my pizza was placed on the counter with my receipt of what pizza it was, still no acknowledgement. I saw my receipt with my name, on the pizza box and took off counter and left. Since nobody acknowledged me. I called and asked for the manager, because I felt things shouldn't be done in such a poor manner. He said it was him. Very argumentative when I called to make my concern known, fresh mouth, looking for anything to mouth back at. He then tried to tell me I took the wrong pizza. I opened the box and named off the toppings on it. It was the meat pie I ordered. Then he proceeded to tell me I could come back in and talk. It wasn't worth my time to continue a conversation with an arrogant, argumentative person. I told him that's not how you run a business, you take care of your customers. Next time I'll drive the extra mile to Crave where their service is better and are very friendly! I'll never order here again. My 1st time was the LAST time. I NEVER complain about a restaurant! I never get upset about dining/take out. This place was such a disappointment! I wonder what excuse of a response will be made on this review! He tried to say only 3 of them working too, among other excuses. Saw more staff than 3 in restaurant. In all the years I lived here, I NEVER had such a bad experience from a restaurant, that's why I left the review. I see I'm not the only one who had bad service either....
Read moreWe had never been to Casa Mia's until this past Saturday, but we had heard good things, particularly about the crab cakes. Being from Delaware, and not far from the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays, we consider ourselves to be crab cake aficionados, even snobs, maybe!
First impressions on entering the restaurant were good. The place is a little larger inside than it might seem from outside. A nice-sized, fully stocked bar centrally located is always a welcome sight! And on Saturday, a lively and healthy crowd filled most of the place. We were seated without a wait and ordered drinks while waiting for our second couple.
Our waitress, Stevie, also made a great first impression. She was very friendly, attentive, well-informed, and all-around pleasant. I came to Casa Mia's intending to order the crab cake platter, but when my wife saw the surf and turf, and it included a crab cake, I had a sudden change of heart.
The surf and turf was flawless. The filet was thick and tender; cooked and spiced to perfection. But the kicker for me was the crab cake. Since moving to South Carolina almost four years ago, we have been almost universally disappointed in the various crab cakes offered in local restaurants. Maybe two of them offered fare worthy of seafood restaurants up in Chesapeake crab country. Casa Mia's is the standout exception! This crab cake is not only worthy, it surpasses those sold in some of the best seafood houses of Maryland and Delaware. Yes, you pay for it, but that's crabmeat in general, everywhere.
I give Casa Mia's five stars. We are looking forward to our next visit and want to try the Italian fare, but it will be very hard to resist ordering that crab cake...
Read moreI went for a birthday party of four. We had white pizza, crabcake dinners, voodoo, chicken, and bruschetta. If you’re going for crabcakes, it was a disappointment. For $34 you get one crabcake and it’s sitting on a giant cracker. You get two slices of smashed potatoes that are fried into oblivion, a vegetable, not worth noting and a boring salad. It’s definitely not worth $34. The voodoo chicken was OK, the pasta was chewy. The bruschetta was absolutely horrible. The bread that was it was sitting on was so chewy you had to yank it through your teeth. The sauce for the bruschetta was overly sweet and it just didn’t work out well. The pizza however, was phenomenal! I am an extremely picky eater, and this pizza was the best pizza I have had in a very long time. It had broccoli and dollops of ricotta cheese on top. They must’ve drizzled garlic flavored olive oil on top of it because you could taste just the right amount without it overpowering the pizza. If you love pizza as much as I do, it had just the right amount of grease lol. The crust was perfect. You can tell by all of the delicious bubbles!! In the restaurant you can see this beautiful pizza oven out in the front on display. It’s completely made of tiles and it’s huge! You have to check it out. It’s definitely a statement piece. As for the service, it was mediocre at best. The waitress was kind of grumpy and I asked for crushed red pepper and they came out 15 minutes later. Once she dropped off our food that was the last we saw of her. Like I said, the pizza was phenomenal and I would definitely go there again for pizza. Everything else…not...
