For us Mcbrides is very convenient; we could walk if we really wanted to. This makes for a huge plus. We've been here numerous times and the newest owner has elevated the food from what it used to be. It is still typically bar food, nothing spectacular. The pot roast sandwich is good and so are a couple of the wraps. I love that you can get tater tots because who doesn't love tater tots! The nachos are good too. The have a 1/2 order option and a full order. The 1/2 is perfect for 2 really hungry people. The service is extremely inconsistent - from the same people. As stated earlier we've been here numerous times and have been waited on by the same people and the quality of service changes every time. There appears to be no rhyme or reason either other than the mood they're in. We've had slow ans rude service when the place was nearly empty and fast, friendly service on the busiest nights and every combination in between. Mcbrides does have some nice daily specials like $1.50 pints and all you can eat wings on Mondays. $5 burgers and fries on Tuesday. Kids eat free Wednesdays with an adult meal purchase. And they throw in some things like trivia on Mondays and bingo on Thursday. Which can be good and bad. If you get there early enough you'll be able to find seating get there too late and it will be tough to find seating. We forgot about bingo night and walked in and back out this past Thursday because there was no seating; not...
Read moreA fun bar!. Especially if you are a regular. I dont go as often as some people I know. But the place is always clean, The food is really good and is above and beyond typical "bar" food. They always have some sort of drink special. The staff is personable, and cares about making sure you are taken care of. There is usually a DJ or a band, Ive even heard of a magician coming in and walking around and doing street magic to various tables. Plenty of seating, there are some arachnid dart boards and i believe a video game or 2. They have some of the video poker, although I haven't played. They have an ATM inside as well. For smokers, you just walk out the door and your close to an ash can, so In and out is easy for us smokers. Although it would be really nice to be able to smoke outside with my drink. I just don't think its possible at that location because of the logistics (small sidewalk, cant allow for a gated sitting area). If your close by I would definitely recommend it for your local watering hole. There is a Chinese place, and subway for take out, and a taco joint of some sort also opened up right next door (haven't tried it). The hours I believe are from 11am till typical close times around here (1 or 2) depending on the day...
Read moreCame here to watch game 1 of the Cubs vs Mets. Medium siZe venue and had tvs everywhere. Right when I entered in the building, I had to wait 3-5 minutes till someone came and seated us. Our server was very prompt and kept checking on us which is good.
We ordered the Four Clover appetizer which was big portions for 11$. Could be one meal for one person or maybe between two people. My favorite was the fried mac n cheese bites. We couldn't finish the burgers but I had one and it was really good. Bigger than normal sized sliders.
I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with waffle fries and it was okay. I think I was assuming it was going to be a crispy spicy chicken sandwich but it was just a chicken patty covered in buffalo sauce. The waffle fries were great.
I was amazed on the beers they had on tap. They had three Floyd's yum yum which is hard to find in tap near where I'm from.
I bought the $10 for $20 and thought we could use the 20% off appetizer but our server said we could only use one :(. I saw in previous Yelp reviews that the 20% and the $10 for $20 was allowed. I think it depends which...
