This restaurant has the best service I have received in Nantucket and perhaps that I have ever received all over the world. The staff sought and succeeded in connecting and creating meaning in the experience for each member of my family. Our pleasant server with the European accent was simply incredible. You quite nearly felt an old friend was having you over for a fine meal. She treated us all with the deepest respect and kindness. Blown away. The food was very well prepared and presented. The veal was out of the park and the swordfish was great. Calamari appetizer was nice with some mixed field greens, petite tomatoes, and fun pickled peppers.

My daughter began to get quite disruptive to other diners toward the end and so I took her out to the parking area. The incredibly warm and soulful hostess brought me a small bit of bread so that my daughter and I could feed a little wayward duck there together. It turned a somewhat stressful moment into a meaningful moment of bonding between a father and a little girl. Her eyes were filled with delight. We have been coming to IK since it first opened a few years ago. It’s undoubtedly our favorite dining spot on the island. What was one of the best kept secrets for a while here on the island, IK quickly became popular and has expanded even into ice cream and catering over the years. It’s worth any wait time in the summer as it’s gained much popularity for good reason!! If you come to Nantucket you HAVE to come to IK. We absolutely love their breakfast. Everything on the menu is delicious and consistently good. We have never had a bad meal. You also have to come for their banana pie ice cream, it is THE BEST!! I don’t even like ice cream, but when I’m in Nantucket I literally crave the banana cream pie ice cream because it’s so that good and tastes just like banana cream pie. Our family loves IK so much we had been trying to get our hands on some IK gear to sport back home and because it’s so popular it’s so hard to come by. This most recent trip the restaurant’s manager made sure I had t-shirts to bring home, which made my whole weekend!! From the friendliness of staff, superior service, cozy atmosphere and delicious food that keeps us coming back year and year. Also, kid friendly which is an added bonus! Original Review 11/8 - Came here last night for dinner with 3 others. I had read great reviews about Island Kitchen and was excited to try a number of their dishes. We shared 2 appetizers (shrimp scampi crostini, roasted cauliflower) and each had various entrees (fluke, quinoa, scallops and veal).

The food was nothing special and left a lot to be desired:

1. The shrimp scampi crostini was a disappointment. The menu mentioned crostini, but came without it. The server seemed to be unfamiliar with the menu and blamed it on the fact that the kitchen changed the menu often
2. The roasted cauliflower was very small and was not a shareable dish
3. The main dishes were OK at best. Specifically, the fluke was extremely dry. The quinoa, scallops and veal were average
