I usually don't like to be negative when I review places I've visited, but here I must make the exception. First let me tell you that the wait staff was great. We were seated right away and our drinks were brought out without delay. So the wait staff and bartenders were not the problem. The menu lacked flair and substance for a place touted as one of Narragansett's best. We chose a pasta dish with clams that should have been made simply with garlic, oil and parsley. The description in the menu though, said that capers were included in the preparation. We decided to order the dish anyway. When it arrived, it looked absolutely delicious... but it also looked as if the chef had spilled an entire jar of capers on each dish. We tasted the linguini but could not eat them... they were so salty. All you could taste was capers and salt... absolutely horrible. This is supposed to be a light tasting, delicate dish. It turned out to be a study in salt and brine. A chef is supposed to taste the dishes he or she sends out... this one either didn't or the taste buds are totally non existent. This will go down as one of the worst meals we've ever had. If the chef wants to know how to make that dish, just let me know...I cook that at least twice a month... and I've never used capers... there's trendy and then there's insanity, as capers take away from the delicate flavor of the clams. We will not be returning to Twin Willows, or as we now refer to it...
Read moreShane wanted to come here... Said it was "right down the road." It's not. Oh, well, they had some beers I hadn't had on tap. They don't offer flights, but she gave us a few samples. I ordered a pint and Shane ordered some soup. The service was good at first but our server left and we never saw her again... The lady bartending was busy having a conversation with family members and friends on the side of the bar and they never really checked on us. Then I saw a bus boy dump bar mats in the ice bin... At first, I figured it was the sink. Nope. It was the ice bin.
That was bad. But then the bartender used THAT ice to make two cocktails. I was sick to my stomach. Never got the manager's attention because she was literally at the end of the bar on her phone for the majority of the time we were there. But wait... It gets worse. The bartender grabs some martini glasses, fills them with ice and water to cool them down. When she's done, she dumps the ice and water back in the ice bin. I can't even...
When the bartender finally brought us our check, I told her what beer I had. She charged me for Shane's beer. I am glad I didn't eat... Dumping bar mats in the ice then USING that ice in a drink is beyond me. I read a few other reviews about the service here, so I guess I should have known better. NOT the experience I was hoping to have... Especially on my birthday. Oh, well. Now I know better. I would encourage you to avoid this place while in...
Read moreThis Place was okay. Bar was packed when we went in, restaurant not so much. Waitress was very scatterbrained and that is truly an understatement. Constantly forgetting things, food coming out without proper preparation that was ordered, food was still good, just not as ordered. Water, iced teas, drinks did not get ordered in a timely manner. Ordered a glass of wine and it didn't come until the end of the meal after reminding her And then the manager finally brought it. We ask for boxes several times to put our food in, as well as our bill and finally had to find somebody else to do it for us. I mean it wasn't horrible, but I don't think it was worth the price at all. Steak (medallion) was very tough for the $35ish they charge for it. Broccoli was unseasoned completely, and steamed between raw and al dente. It was okay... Mainly it was just the service that was frustrating. She just had no idea when to come up and ask how things were or if we needed stuff etc. Our food had literally just been set down for less than 30 seconds by somebody else, when she walked up and wanted to know how it all tasted and how everything was doing. I had an entire mouthful of food and couldn't even answer her, and I just expect more from a well established restaurant. It was all...
