I wanted to support a new local restaurant (Local Street Eats) that just opened on December 10, so I made a reservation for New Year’s Eve. When I booked, I was asked if I preferred a high-top or a table, and I requested a table. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were seated at a high-top in the bar area, which wasn’t what we expected.
The menu was a bit confusing—it felt more like a lunch menu with very few main course options. The entire concept of this restaurant is confusing… local street eats? What does that even mean?
My partner and I struggled to find something that felt substantial, but since it was a busy night and alternatives elsewhere were limited, we decided on the steak and fries. Unfortunately, the steaks, ordered medium-well, came out (very) well-done, making them tough to cut and chew - it was well done, bordering on burned. Serving them in a bowl along with the fries made it even harder to eat, even with a steak knife. Who serves steak in a plastic bowl? On the positive side, we did enjoy the French Dip Egg Rolls appetizer, and the Salted Caramel Apple Empanadas for dessert were okay.
Service, however, was a major challenge. The meal stretched over two hours (from 7:30 to 9:30), with long waits at every stage. We were told the steak would be a bit longer wait for some reason, which was fine. But it took about 20 minutes just to get our appetizer, and long after the main course was served, we didn’t see much of our server. Nobody bothered to even check to see if everything was OK.
We were finally offered drink refills toward the end of our meal, which then took another 20 minutes to arrive.
Overall, I’d recommend checking the menu online beforehand to see if it suits your preferences. While I understand the restaurant is new and working out the kinks, this visit didn’t meet expectations, especially with a bill over $100. Hopefully they will be able to make this work over time, because as it stands now, I can’t imagine them being...
Read moreI finally made it to downtown's newest spot, and it didn't disappoint! Parking was a breeze, with plenty of spots right out front and the public garage just around the corner. The first thing you see when you walk in is the lively bar area – my friend and I already decided we're snagging seats there next time! We chose to sit in the dining room, though, and I loved the atmosphere. The vintage decor was a really nice touch; pictures just don't capture the ambiance. Our waitress, Kailey, was fast, professional, and super friendly. We started the night with a round of drinks. My friend got the Scarlet Letter, and I opted for their espresso martini. Both drinks were excellent. For starters, we ordered the chicken satay and the french dip egg rolls, both absolutely delicious. For my meal, I went with the Mc'Lovin smash burger and fries. It was so big I couldn't finish it, but thankfully, I was able to bring the leftovers home. My friend had the Southern Fried Chicken Sliders. She thought they were good, but she mentioned they were a little skimpy on the house sauce – she actually had to check to make sure there was any on them at all. Overall, we were very pleased and will definitely...
Read moreOk friends and family, you have to try Local Street Eats in downtown Nashua. I made reservations for our anniversary and they served us a champagne toast when we sat down. The atmosphere are decor are unique and the vibe is fun. Service was attentive and friendly. Drinks we tried were Scarlet letter, Do Not Disturb and Nine Lives, all yummy! We ordered the Carmelized Onion Dip and both fell in love with it. The French Dip Eggroll exceeded our expectations, and the Steak and Fries were tender and delicious. We don’t usually order dessert but Mamas Fluffernutter Trifle was calling us and our server brought it over with a candle, comped by the owner 🥰 We paid just over $100 for 4 drinks, 2 apps and a meal, much less than other local places, and for better quality food, impressive! Definitely going back to try more items on the menu and you...
