Hands down the worst bagel shop/experience in Nashville. I am sorry but you simply cannot wait almost an hour for a bagel, no matter how busy it is. We sat in line for approx. 7-10 minutes which isn’t bad, the line wasn’t out the door but there were a few people in front of us. However, we ordered at 10:37 and did not get our food until 11:20. On top of that, we spent $32 on a “medium” coffee, BEC bagel, and their New Yorker (lox) bagel. The lox was okay but nothing to write home about. Way too much cream cheese to really taste anything else on it though. The bacon egg and cheese was absolutely horrendous. I had to take it apart to even see if there was any egg on it, and the cheese was completely fried. Again too much cream cheese to even taste anything else. 0/10, did not taste like a BEC whatsoever. The “medium” coffee, was the smallest medium I have ever seen and the coffee tasted like it was made with days old grounds. Almost dirt like. And they charge extra for everything ($1 for syrup?). It should be illegal to advertise a 12 oz coffee as a medium. And their large was a 16 oz. The EDM like music was also so loud that the table next to the speaker got up and turned it down. You couldn’t hear the person in front of you talk, and you for sure could not hear the lady calling out order numbers, which caused everyone to constantly have to get up to make sure they didn’t miss their order being called because it was taking an absurd amount of time. I fully understand being busy and being a small shop. But when you look at other shops around town like H&S bagels, their line could be down the street and they’d still get you your food within 10 minutes with incredible service and phenomenal food. There was nothing great or even good about this place - I can think of 10 other bagel shops with far better food and half the price.

First time today at Benji’s! We loooved the food, it was sensational. The decor/vibe is so cute and we loved the floral arrangements (AC works amazing, great for us on a hot day but also good for others who may want a jacket). I am giving a 4 star only because the staff were a bit off-putting, we were hoping for a more welcoming greeting cause we did preface it was our first time and apologized for being a bit out of touch with the ordering process. We also came cause of a friend who highly rated a special latte that upon asking found out it is off the menu now and was for a limited time, so for anyone like us maybe check before you come! There wasn’t anyone in line behind us but the service lacked warmth or approachability so it wasn’t what we expected. Again the food was heavenly and it was timely as well as accurate with modifications we made, and given the high reviews and being recommended by friends, this place has been vetted! We just chalked it up to it being a Monday and we came around noon so it was nearing the end of day. Prices were great and the food left us very full!

If you’re a bagel enthusiast like me, you’ll be thrilled to discover Benji’s Bagel, a true gem in the heart of West Nashville. Just a quick five-minute walk from my doorstep, the bagel shop exudes warmth and authenticity from the moment you step in. Their bagels? Absolute perfection. I talked to the owner Nico and each of their bagel is hand-rolled, kettle boiled, and then baked to achieve that ideal balance of a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior. Whether you're a fan of classic plain bagels or adventurous flavors like Zatar flavor, there's something for everyone. The cream cheese varieties are so flavorful – the house-made chili flavor cream cheese is my personal favorite. And if you're in the mood for something more substantial, their smoked salmon bagel sandwich, topped with capers and onions, is a must. The staff greets you with smiles and has been very polite, It's not just a bagel shop; it's a community hub where neighbors gather to enjoy delicious food and friendly conversation.

Great for nashville but below average or average if you’re a native New Yorker hoping for a taste of home. 4 stars are adjusted for nashville standards, not for New York… First, criticisms:

  1. they refuse to scoop out bagels. In the time the cashier took to explain why this is their policy, my bagel could have been scooped out…this might be a New Yorker preference but strange to refuse it as a policy
  2. “toasted” bagel was not toasted at all. They said they do a “quick toast”…not how it’s done. But they did remake the bagel and toast it properly when this was pointed out, props for that.
  3. service was meh. Our order included bagels, drinks, and pastries which apparently includes 3 separate staff members that could not coordinate. Waited way too long for the drinks when there was no one ahead of us, and had to ask for the pastries from cashier after they were apparently forgotten.
  4. they ran out of plain bagels. No excuses for this one… Now for the pros:
  5. prices are very reasonable, especially for nashville, and for a new shop in a new building
  6. pastries were delicious
  7. ample free parking
  8. moved through the...
