This isn't a fancy 5 star review in that the decor is beautiful, the food amazing and service impeccable. This is a 5 star review of an old school family style restaurant that serves darn good food at an affordable price. The waitresses were busting their butts on a busy Sunday after church with a packed restaurant. This is not a fine dining experience, it is a good old fashioned southern food and old school Americana menu. Catfish, a selection of sandwiches, a breakfast menu, extensive list of sides and burgers as well as their homemade pies and cakes were some of the highlights. The menu is carb heavy as most restaurants like this usually are, but we appreciated the fact you could just order a burger or Philly without the bun and not have to ask for a side substitution. The burger patties were nice and big and juicy and the Philly was perfectly seasoned. The decor is eclectic depending on which room you are seated. There is even a wall dedicated to Patsy Cline. There is lots of booth seating land long tables covered with plastic tablecloths. The prices are extremely reasonable and if you pay with a credit card there is a 3.5% fee. So be sure to bring cash. The tables turn over pretty quickly so they keep tip buckets for each server at the cashier station so you don't have to run back to your table to leave a tip. This quaint little restaurant will be on our list to return to next time we travel through. There is plenty of parking in back even for...
Read moreWhat an exceptionally bad first experience! I don't leave bad reviews unless I have a horrible experience, but this was inexcusable. This place was recommended to me as a quaint and friendly mom and pop diner. The bad experience started as soon as I walked in the door and was ignored by staff. It wasn't until they greeted the people that came in after me that I knew it was self seating. Waitress took my order and I never saw her again. It was ridiculously cold where I was seated and I don't know if I was under an AC duct or what, but it felt like I was in a freezer and I had to sit there for an hour waiting on my food. 30 mins of that wait was without a drink because my waitress never came back to check on me not even once. The food I was brought was not what I ordered and the runner practically threw it on the table and walked away before I could tell her it wasn't right. I ate what I could because I was starving after waiting an hour and didn't have time to wait another hour or just go somewhere else. I asked for a discount at the register considering all of the problems I had and was met with attitude from the cashier and the waitress that ignored me for an hour. They gave me $2 off. Needless to say I won't be returning here. That was a catastrophic failure of service and the fact that the employees had the nerve to cop attitude about it assures I won't be giving them a second chance. 0 out of 10, do...
Read moreI visited this place because it had high reviews and was right off the highway. . Theace is a bit low-end. My wife and I stuck out like a sore thumb, simply because we were probably the only people in the place with a full set of teeth in our mouth. We are both not a fan of drawing attention, so felt uncomfortable at first. Then the waitress brought us some menus, which was half professionally printed and half hand-written. We just wanted quick bites so we ordered sandwiches for us, and kids chicken fingers for the Lil ones. The waitress was extremely nice to the kids and attentive to my family. The food was quick and delicious, and the kids even got a dessert with their meal. I made sure to tip the waitress extra for her hospitality.
The atmosphere was very redneck, as if it were commissioned by Larry the Cable Guy (before he was rich), and felt dirty. I considered turning around and leaving as soon as I walked in. But I'm glad I didnt. I don't consider myself a snob: I frequently eat lunch at mexican restaurants which used to be gas stations, with grease stains on the ceiling and gas pumps converted to parking spots for to-do customers. I consider my standards pretty low, and this place made me feel slightly uncomfortable. However, I left with a full, satisfied belly and two happy kids. I just hope the owner works on their atmosphere/decor in order to attract and keep any...
