One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I’m honestly confused about all the 5 star reviews about this place and was looking forward to eating here. I went here for the 1st time on Saturday with a classmate to have breakfast and study a bit. I ordered the Foster sandwich & the Turtle latte. The latte was decent...but I couldn’t taste the difference in quality from that latte and a Starbucks drive thru latte; I definitely didn’t taste any pecan or chocolate flavor at all. Also, my sandwich was completely disgusting. The roast beef was extremely tough and very greasy, I had to wrestle with it to get a bite off and then wished I hadn’t (and trust me I’m no Gordon Ramsay). When I realized finishing this meal would be more of a punishment to me than anything, I went back up to the cashier to request an exchange for a much cheaper bagel sandwich. She was nice and went to go speak with someone, came back and asked what new sandwich I wanted, then left again. Then a man, I guess the manager walked up and said that they don’t “just give away food” and the best he could do for me is for me to pay for more food and get it out quickly. No offer to reimburse me for the sandwich I took one bite out of and was disgusted by, apology, or offer for a free coffee..nothing...nada. I was shocked by that and made a statement about how this was just bad customer service...I got an “o well that’s your problem” shrug from him. I then asked the waiter if this was a common way to address a problem like this with a customer. The waiter apologized and said he would talk to someone to see if anything could be done...nothing. My waiter just offered to take it away for me (a full plate of food), which I accepted. Afterwards I saw the so-called manager bussing a table and shooting me nasty looks that the person I was with noticed as well. It’s not personal vendetta. I was just hungry and the food just wasn’t good. The money that I would’ve spent here in the future, would’ve far outweighed the $11 I paid for the sandwich; and the only person that “gave away” something today was...
Read moreVisiting friends in West Nashville and came here twice, once for breakfast (dined in) and once for lunch (takeout). What we liked: very cute aesthetic inside. The drinks were great - coffee and the honey I’m home cocktail were both delicious. The food is quite good, seems to be mostly fresh ingredients. We had the grit bowl with eggs and kale added, the huevos rolandos, the bungalow salad with chicken, and the kale caesar with chicken. While the grits could’ve been more flavorful, the dish was overall pretty good with some hot sauce added. The huevos rolandos had plenty of flavor. The Caesar was dressing heavy, but good, while the bungalow was mostly lettuce, some of which started to turn. What wasn’t so great: it took forever to get my latte - probably came 20 mins after my husbands coffee - and a long time to order breakfast. then even longer to get our food, even though we ordered before the rush came in. The food was good, but a long time for some eggs. We were in a bit more of a hurry when we got lunch a few days later, so we ordered it to go. This was ready faster, however the servings were ridiculous. We both paid more to have the large size salads, but they looked like side salads. We also paid more for grilled chicken to be added on, and there was maybe 1oz of chicken on each salad. It looks like they took one serving of meat and split it up over multiple orders. Overall we paid $40 for two to go salads that were worth about $10 total. My husband immediately went and got a sandwich elsewhere because his salad was so small. This was very frustrating. Breakfast came to just over $100 for two egg dishes, two coffees, and two cocktails after tip. So, while the food is pretty good, it is definitely overpriced and you won’t get much value...
Read moreDid I catch this place on a bad day? This was legitimately shocking to me. Went early Saturday evening (not close to closing time) and the first thing we notice is the restaurant is filthy. There was a smashed pastry under my chair, the next table over had a chunk of fruit on the floor and there was a slice of cucumber on the floor under the table next to it. We weren't there during some kind of a crazy rush - there was only one other seated table and a few customers at the bar, the server walked past the food on the floor over and over. She then hands us menus that are also filthy - just sticky with something that had been splattered on them.
I order something I thought would be fairly simple (the farmer's breakfast, just eggs, toast, etc). The server got the order wrong, then separately from that I noticed that they just... forgot to toast the toast? It was just a slice of white bread with a rock-solid square of butter sitting on top. I've never had a restaurant get confused about how to cook toast before and in fact I've never seen any individual be confused by it. The sausage seemed cooked from frozen from one of those pucks you get at the grocery store.
After that we ordered coffee and sat and sat until we realized the woman at the bar doing the coffee orders had gotten engaged in conversation with the customers seated there. She wasn't waiting on them or doing anything, just talking and laughing, until our server finally went over and asked her to make our drinks.
It just seemed like a total void of any kind of management or leadership but again maybe I just caught them on a really weird day or something, I don't know what is going on in others' lives. Just saying it's probably better to eat elsewhere until they...
