Golden Pony — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

Place is a total vibe. Took my mom when she was here in town. Met the owners who were so cool, my friend who’s a realtor chatted with the female co-owner who showed her one of the rooms where a small party can be held privately. However the bartenders put a really bad taste in our mouths and we wouldn’t want to go back if they are there. Seth, Macy and from what I was told a new bartender Landon was working the Friday night that we went. We were there for a couple hours drinking, vibing and having a good time. The first thing is the bartenders kept cashing us out inside of leaving our tabs opened like we mentioned the first time. I had my own ticket and my friend had her own. I cashed out twice and tipped both times as well as my friend we tipped both times! Over tipped actually. Well Macy who was off the clock was the other side of the bar ear hustling, Seth whispers something in Landon’s ear and Landon comes up to my friend whose last bill was like $109 and asked her if she can tip 35%! She told him she will not be tipping again due to overtipping her last TWO bills that they cashed out. Macy again trying to listen over music comes to me and say “you said you never tip, you didn’t mean here right?!” I quickly let her know that I did not say that and what I said was we always tip. I’m a bartender so I know the importance of tipping. Seth stated they expect big tips on bills that large but 35%!! First rule is NEVER ask a customer to tip! That’s so unprofessional! WOW! What a phenomenonal place! As someone that only drinks socially but used to drink a lot, I can say that these cocktails are next level. To be honest though, I'd come back here just for the food. Bar food is by far the wrong descriptive for this quality of food. Everything homemade, right down to the ranch dressing. The flavor profiles of everything will have you questioning your own food preferences. I normally don't like ranch, the ranch is phenomenonal. I don't like honey on my chicken, but the hot honey they lightly drizzle over the top of just enough to throw enough heat at you, sweet enough to get a hint of honey. But let me tell you about these fries! As a professional French fry connoisseur, I've had them all from the best to the worst and these are by far the BEST fries you'll ever find. Breaded in a buttermilk batter, these have an extra crispy crunch with a nice tender potato underneath. Salted perfectly, seasoned perfectly, fried perfectly, they just don't get better than these. It's very fitting that they are their own dish to order because you won't want to eat anything else after eating these. Dipped in their homemade ranch, and you've got yourself one fine meal. Last night was the second time spending my birthday at Golden Pony and it was just as amazing as I remembered. We had a group of around 20, so we booked their private room for the night. It is so easy for parties because they assign you wait staff to the room so you don’t have to go in and out to the bar but they also will get everyone started on separate checks.

The room is also incredibly fun because we can set up karaoke! We sang for about 4 hours straight and no one has a voice today - the best feeling.

Every drink was amazing as always, with the Tomatillo Kiwi Agua Fresca being my personal favorite for the night. All the food was also great - the chicken tenders are still our favorites!

Finally, the cherry on top was the service. Our server was attentive, fun, and helpful. She took such amazing care of us, so I made sure to thank her at the end, and found out that she is one of the owners of the bar, Liz! She said she and Sam will pick up a shift serving 1-2 times a week to make sure they are connected with clientele and keep up the quality at the bar! I couldn’t even believe how gracious and hospitable she was - it just made the whole night even better.

Can’t wait to spend my birthday there again...
