After 4 visits to this store in the last 3 years, I am to believe very strongly that the negative reviews are all created or instigated by one single person with an axe to grind. I live in Birmingham but spent extensive time in LA as well as Charlotte and NYC. I have collected vintage band and nascar tees for 20 years and have a pretty extensive collection. On occasion I get lucky at estate sales but for the most part, I have paid market price for what I have, based on what market value was at the time. I can say, with great confidence, that I have not seen anything that even comes close to the collection available here, and that is even in LA where money is no object to the countless Miley's and Kristen Stewarts who are known to drop serious coin on vintage tees. There are some great shops in LA, and even Charlotte. There is nothing like this place anywhere.
On at least 2 of the occasions I visited here I met the owner, who I found to be personable and most important to me, knowledgeable and I would even say passionate about the clothing. I have met many a thrifters who are just set up to sell at vintage pop ups and don't know or care a thing about the stuff. That's fine too, but it is great to know there is an owner here who takes pride in his collection and is happy and able to have an educated conversation about vintage.
But I see negative reviews where people are complaining about pricing and that makes no sense to me. I can't afford to drive a Porsche so I don't, but I don't go onto the Porsche dealerships google page and leave a false or angry review. I just vote with my wallet and drive a Honda. I assume the owner would tell you if you see it on Ebay cheaper, buy it. Who knows what he had to pay to acquire it, maybe the Ebayer got lucky at a thrift. But to take the time to post false reviews is beyond me. I would encourage the owner to speak to Google and have the inflammatory reviews removed, which he certainly would...
Read moreCame into the shore earlier on a whim very excited for the vintage grunge clothes I could see from the windows. After walking through the store I quickly realized how ridiculous the prices were. Nearly $200 for leather jackets, some with rips or that were severely worn! Band tees you could find in a thrift store or eBay or really any other secondhand store were hundreds of dollars. Some of the clothes in the hundreds were not in great shape and not all that unique or special. I can 100% understand raising prices to make a profit or some sort of “finders fee” but clothes that cost maybe $10-50 to buy were being sold in the hundreds (a few close to reaching the thousands) I wish that vintage clothes were more accessible, nothing here was under $75 other than the records and their own merch. If you’re looking for cool, vintage clothes in good shape and at fair, reasonable prices this is not the place to look. It’s disappointing that clothes are being capitalized in such a way.
And before the establishment attacks me for my opinions as they have with other reviews: I don’t know anything about the tik toks regarding this place as I’ve seen mentioned in...
Read moreWe really enjoyed looking around in here and we found some cool things, but they were all way too expensive for OUR budget. Just because something is too expensive for your personal budget doesn't mean it's overpriced. However, $100 for a band tshirt, that I just purchased at a thrift store back home in po-dunk Alabama for $3, is too much for me. Nonetheless, we still stop here every time we come to Nashville. Just walking through the shop gives me an amazing hit of Dopamine and Serotonin that makes my ADHD heart happy and full. My husband did find some great vinyl records on this trip though and they were a great price. We did experience the alleged "following," but we did not interpret it that way or in any negative way. It just seemed like the employees wanted to make themselves available in each room in case we had questions about the merchandise. People seem to just need something to complain about these days. 🙄 We will continue to stop in here and enjoy all the vintage music goodness and...
