In April I was in Nashville with my family for a night and wanted to try Nashville Hot chicken. The kids wanted something else so I saw on the website you could do delivery so I decided to do that and it could be at the room not long after we made it back from getting the kids food. So I ordered it and was given an estimated wait time. When the time got near I went to the lobby to wait on the driver and 20 minutes after the time DoorDash gave me in the tracker I got a email saying my order was canceled so I called the restaurant line for delivery orders and they said they would process the refund since by then it was late and they were about to close so I didn’t ask to do a pickup on the order.

A few weeks go by and no refund. I called DoorDash since that is who it directed me to when I called the restaurant. Gave them my information and they reissued it and said it would be 10-12 business days again. Now it’s about 3 weeks after the second call and no refund so I called the restaurant directly and left a message to get a call back. No return call and still no refund. At this point I don’t know who I need to contact or if I’m ever getting a refund for the food I never received.

Three stars for food because I can’t say it was good or bad because I never got it.

One star for service because I was told I would get a refund and haven’t got it yet

Three stars for atmosphere because I didn’t physically go there and can’t say it’s good or bad.

One star overall

I wouldn’t recommend using the online order feature of the website or using DoorDash. I may would try it in restaurant sometime. The only thing that is upsetting is I was told I was getting a refund and month and a half later still nothing.

Update: restaurant responded with email contact. Sent the issue in email with receipt and emails showing canceled order and email from DoorDash. Less than a hour after review posting a refund was process. Updated from one star to 5 stars for service since it was...

I have had hot chicken in a few different spots around Nashville, but Hattie Bs at Melrose is the one I keep coming back to. The place has the perfect balance between being approachable for out of towners and still delivering the kind of heat and flavor that locals appreciate.

First off, the atmosphere: the Melrose location has a casual, lively vibe with enough seating to not feel cramped but still that busy hum that tells you the food is worth waiting for. The line moves quicker than you would expect, and the staff are friendly, efficient, and helpful when you are trying to figure out what heat level you can realistically handle.

Now the chicken. It really is the star. I went with the medium the first time just to play it safe, then worked my way up. The crust is perfectly crisp, the meat inside stays juicy, and the spice level is balanced so it is not just hot for the sake of being hot. It actually has flavor. If you like heat but do not want to destroy your tastebuds, medium or hot are great. If you are adventurous, Damn Hot will push you right to the edge without losing flavor.

The sides deserve their own mention. The pimento mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy, and rich without being over the top. The collard greens are smoky and savory, a great counterpoint to the spicy chicken. I usually grab fries too, they come out hot and seasoned just right. And do not skip dessert, the banana pudding has that homemade comfort food feel that cools your mouth down after the heat.

Prices are fair for the portion sizes, and you really feel like you are getting quality food for the money. Parking around Melrose can be a little tight at peak times, but it is worth it.

Overall, Hattie Bs Hot Chicken Melrose is a must if you are in Nashville and want to experience one of the citys best hot chicken joints. Great food, great staff, and a spot that lives up to its reputation. I will definitely be back whenever...

Came to visit Nashville and couldn't forgo a chance to try Nashville hot chicken! My wife and I had the Half Bird (ordered Medium heat level) with Mac and cheese and coleslaw as the sides, along with a banana pudding and a boozy coke icee. Also ordered a single ordered a single tender with the "damn hot" heat level. Service was friendly and relatively quick. The Half chicken came with two big thighs with their skin coated coated shiny red. They were delicious but weren't sure if they were Medium or hot heat level as the little flag on the chicken said "hot" but they tasted more like Medium heat level. The Coleslaw was ok but it had lettuce, a little different from the pure cabbage I'm use to. The Mac and cheese was good but not a standout. The banana pudding was not the best as we found it too sweet and tasted too artificially flavored. Our boozy coke was well balanced and not too sweet, perfect. However the "damn hot" chicken tender upset my stomach because of the spiciness, which is on me. Mind you I am use to spiciness and typically handle habenero or serrano salsas. It tasted great and was enticing me to eat more but I could only manage to eat 1/3 of it. If you have anything important afterwards I advise you to not get any chicken at the "damn hot" or "shut the cluck up" heat level, your lips and backside will thank me. Overall I would come back, the chicken and seasoning was great, but I will only stick to medium or hot...

It’s our first time to Nashville and lots of people recommended you guys that it’s a must try. We ordered a chicken sandwiches “medium” which was an ok sandwich. We also ordered three jumbo wings (southern, medium and hot) We liked the southern one, well seasoned and was really delicious, the medium wasn’t bad, the hot was really good but I thought it would be spicer than that, I would’ve ordered the shut your cluck out if I knew. He he. We also had the dirty fries which was the star after the wings, the mixing of the fires, Mac and cheese which is spot on, and the chicken. Was just a great combo. We have ordered the peach cobbler as desert. So there is a story behind the cobbler. I went to pick up my order, I was there waiting for over 15 minutes even though I order over 45 min earlier. After few calls I finally get my order and when I was back in the hotel, there was NO COBBLER. What’s worse is that there was a black eyed pea salad in the bag which spilled all over the rest of the containers. We called and told them about the missing cobbler and they said you can come and get it whenever you have a chance to do so. We did and it was soo good that we kind of forgot about the other issues that happen. Oh one more thing, I would highly recommend that you ask them for utensils because they would not send any in the bag. I would still go back and try different items on the menu. And try the hottest wings 😀

The hype is real; no doubt. One major issue though (read further). Hot chicken sandwich is very good! Even the no-heat Southern one. Hot is good for those wanting heat but erring on the side of caution. If you want pretty decent heat, go for the Very Hot. Dare to try "What The Cluck!" If you're passing by Nashville and want to try some hot chicken, go to a Hattie B for sure. Now, management can be so much better to cut down the excessive wait times. The staff and process looked rather inefficient. We were in line for an hour before we could place our to-go order. At any given moment, there were at least 2-3 employees doing nothing but chitchatting in the kitchen. No one seemed to know how to operate the system on their own either. Not being persnickety but the situation calls for efficiency. Especially when they have essentially disabled call-ahead or online orders. No separate queues for to-go or dine-in. If you do get an online order, your time slot will at least be an hour away (starting from 3.15 pm). They have 2 cash registers but only one was taking orders most of the time. I think they have opportunity to speed up at least to-go orders. Not like their dining area was full anyway. Parking is available but limited in a tight space where people queuing may overflow into a couple of those spots.

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is often touted as a must-visit spot in Nashville, but my experience fell far short of the hype. The food was a greasy, salty disappointment that left more to be desired. While the lines out the door might suggest something special, what you actually get is an over-seasoned, oil-soaked meal that prioritizes theatrics over quality. The chicken was overly fried, leaving a thick, crunchy coating that lacked flavor beyond an overwhelming saltiness. Instead of crispy and juicy, it felt heavy and greasy, making it hard to enjoy more than a few bites. The sides weren’t much better. The macaroni and cheese was bland, while the coleslaw tasted store-bought and uninspired. Despite the high prices, the portions didn’t justify the cost, and the overall experience felt more like a rushed, mass-produced tourist trap rather than an authentic Nashville dining experience. The atmosphere was chaotic, and the staff seemed more focused on pushing people through the line than providing genuine hospitality. For anyone looking for real Nashville hot chicken, there are far better local spots that offer authentic flavor without the gimmicks. Hattie B’s might be Instagram-famous, but it’s not worth the long wait or the greasy regret.
