In April I was in Nashville with my family for a night and wanted to try Nashville Hot chicken. The kids wanted something else so I saw on the website you could do delivery so I decided to do that and it could be at the room not long after we made it back from getting the kids food. So I ordered it and was given an estimated wait time. When the time got near I went to the lobby to wait on the driver and 20 minutes after the time DoorDash gave me in the tracker I got a email saying my order was canceled so I called the restaurant line for delivery orders and they said they would process the refund since by then it was late and they were about to close so I didn’t ask to do a pickup on the order.
A few weeks go by and no refund. I called DoorDash since that is who it directed me to when I called the restaurant. Gave them my information and they reissued it and said it would be 10-12 business days again. Now it’s about 3 weeks after the second call and no refund so I called the restaurant directly and left a message to get a call back. No return call and still no refund. At this point I don’t know who I need to contact or if I’m ever getting a refund for the food I never received.
Three stars for food because I can’t say it was good or bad because I never got it.
One star for service because I was told I would get a refund and haven’t got it yet
Three stars for atmosphere because I didn’t physically go there and can’t say it’s good or bad.
One star overall
I wouldn’t recommend using the online order feature of the website or using DoorDash. I may would try it in restaurant sometime. The only thing that is upsetting is I was told I was getting a refund and month and a half later still nothing.
Update: restaurant responded with email contact. Sent the issue in email with receipt and emails showing canceled order and email from DoorDash. Less than a hour after review posting a refund was process. Updated from one star to 5 stars for service since it was...
Read moreI have had hot chicken in a few different spots around Nashville, but Hattie Bs at Melrose is the one I keep coming back to. The place has the perfect balance between being approachable for out of towners and still delivering the kind of heat and flavor that locals appreciate.
First off, the atmosphere: the Melrose location has a casual, lively vibe with enough seating to not feel cramped but still that busy hum that tells you the food is worth waiting for. The line moves quicker than you would expect, and the staff are friendly, efficient, and helpful when you are trying to figure out what heat level you can realistically handle.
Now the chicken. It really is the star. I went with the medium the first time just to play it safe, then worked my way up. The crust is perfectly crisp, the meat inside stays juicy, and the spice level is balanced so it is not just hot for the sake of being hot. It actually has flavor. If you like heat but do not want to destroy your tastebuds, medium or hot are great. If you are adventurous, Damn Hot will push you right to the edge without losing flavor.
The sides deserve their own mention. The pimento mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy, and rich without being over the top. The collard greens are smoky and savory, a great counterpoint to the spicy chicken. I usually grab fries too, they come out hot and seasoned just right. And do not skip dessert, the banana pudding has that homemade comfort food feel that cools your mouth down after the heat.
Prices are fair for the portion sizes, and you really feel like you are getting quality food for the money. Parking around Melrose can be a little tight at peak times, but it is worth it.
Overall, Hattie Bs Hot Chicken Melrose is a must if you are in Nashville and want to experience one of the citys best hot chicken joints. Great food, great staff, and a spot that lives up to its reputation. I will definitely be back whenever...
Read moreCame to visit Nashville and couldn't forgo a chance to try Nashville hot chicken! My wife and I had the Half Bird (ordered Medium heat level) with Mac and cheese and coleslaw as the sides, along with a banana pudding and a boozy coke icee. Also ordered a single ordered a single tender with the "damn hot" heat level. Service was friendly and relatively quick. The Half chicken came with two big thighs with their skin coated coated shiny red. They were delicious but weren't sure if they were Medium or hot heat level as the little flag on the chicken said "hot" but they tasted more like Medium heat level. The Coleslaw was ok but it had lettuce, a little different from the pure cabbage I'm use to. The Mac and cheese was good but not a standout. The banana pudding was not the best as we found it too sweet and tasted too artificially flavored. Our boozy coke was well balanced and not too sweet, perfect. However the "damn hot" chicken tender upset my stomach because of the spiciness, which is on me. Mind you I am use to spiciness and typically handle habenero or serrano salsas. It tasted great and was enticing me to eat more but I could only manage to eat 1/3 of it. If you have anything important afterwards I advise you to not get any chicken at the "damn hot" or "shut the cluck up" heat level, your lips and backside will thank me. Overall I would come back, the chicken and seasoning was great, but I will only stick to medium or hot...
