Hermitage Bakery — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

I had the pleasure to be assisted from Lana and the Hermitage Bakery and they are simply the best. On March 3 my work Mom (Dee) turned 55 years of age and her Mom (Ms. Martha) had a tradition with her kids (Dee and her siblings) that she bought them birthday cakes from bakery’s in the Greater Nashville area. Dee wanted to continue the tradition although her Mom is no longer here on Earth. She told me she wanted to try this bakery around the corner from her house. I asked her the name of the bakery and she replied “Hermitage Bakery”. I googled this bakery and spoke to Lana and explained to her the situation and the tradition. Lana was happy to assist me and picked out a cake and had it decorated for Dee when she came in. To Dee surprise their was a hand picked cake already paid for and decorated that read “Happy 55th Birthday Dee” with the hash tags #thetraditionscontinues #Martha. The lady opened the cake for Dee and she instantly cried tear of joys and so did the bakery. The bakery has exemplified superior customer service by being flexible while having other orders ahead of my last minute order, by sharing that moment with Dee and not maki by her feel awkward, and allowing me to pay over the phone. My husband ordered a birthday cake for me the week of October 18th. The cake was picked up on 10/21. He was specific about the colors he wanted since my birthday is in the fall. My Mom picked the cake up not knowing my husband's specifications. Once my husband saw the cake he was not pleased because the colors were clearly spring like. Fall colors are orange, brown, etc.. Not spring time yellow. We've been using Hermitage bakery for about 5 years in spite of living in Antioch where we could have easily driven down the street to Homestyle Bakery. Anywho .. our issue is not necessarily the colors of the cake at this point although for $31.92 you should get what you asked for and if that wasn't available then as a customer we should have been notified! The real issue is the response from the person my husband talked to on the phone when he called to complain. The complete nonchalant attitude was a total shock. I know now that I need to take my business elsewhere. Times are tough now and days but I expect better customer service. Clearly Hermitage bakery has NONE! I'm sure my one little comment won't make much of a difference but I just needed to put...

Ordered a 1/2 sheet cake for my husband's Air Force retirement ceremony. Before placing my order, I sent pictures and was assured it would look like photo. However, it looked nothing like what I ordered...not even close! It should've been a tropical beach themed cake with Air Force Wings in right corner. Instead, it was plainly iced white with basic blue border and writing. It had Air Force Wings symbol in right corner, but that was it. We had 50-60 guests attending the ceremony, and had placed this order weeks in advance. Luckily, we were able to make it work, but it wasn't what we wanted and too late to order from another bakery. The only reason I'm even leaving a 2-star review is because the lady was nice and did try to fix it up the best she could (added red icing and flag rings). Also, the cake was $72, but she only charged us $50. I just wish I'd known they couldn't do it. Would not recommend this bakery for a custom cake order, unless you are just wanting basic icing and design. I have posted a picture of what we ordered versus what we received....
