What a nice, quaint spot to eat. I loved all things about it; the ambience, service, food, art and music. We were greeted and seated shortly after entering. Please note that there is limited seating, so if you go during a busy time, please expect to wait. Our order was taken and we were checked on multiple times after placing our order. If I had to say one not so good thing about the restaurant, it would be about my food (chicken) not being done when it came out. However, the owner addressed my concerns immediately and corrected the issue. And boy was that chicken and waffles good. We had visited this restaurant two weeks after one of the owners had passed away, and so it was a blessing to see everyone continuing to push through and meet everyone in great spirits. I love that this is a black owned restaurant who also gives opportunities to those that are disabled in one form or another. I would definitely recommend and return to this restaurant.

We ventured out to a little Black Own Business in Nashville called Suggah Hi Cafè ran by Ms Kathy aka Suga Cat. When we walked in we were greeted by Ms Cat, she asked why we came to her spot in a cab. We told her we were from Texas and wanted to dine at her establishment. She welcomed us with open arms. She made sure we were satisfied with our meal from start to finish. **She and her Staff took GREATcare of us. She has everything…It was a Buffet Brunch with a live band. The biscuits were phenomenal. We had mimosas the whole time we were there. It was my birthday weekend and other there. We all got serenaded for our birthday. This place has an amazing atmosphere. When in Nashville stop by and tell her Hi 👋🏾. When I come back this will be my Go To Spot just to see Ms Suga Cat and her staff.

1st Timer! Let me start by saying You never know what someone is going through! Not that it’s the customers business and not that you have to care but given the previous reviews I’ve read that are recent-People need to be BETTER at being decent human beings! Me and my girlfriend sat at the bar for Saturday Breakfast/Brunch and the atmosphere just felt so warm and comforting to be there. Service was good! We met the Owner and the owners niece which were also our servers (God Bless y’all) were nothing but inviting! Food was really good, it had a nice home cooked southern taste to it and the Mimosa’s was on point. And let me not forget the Love I have for Smooth Jazz/Blues but even better live 😍. Black Owned Business as well!! Thank you so much for a really Nice experience! Highly recommend!

Shugga Hi has been on my list of places to visit and I finally got a chance. Im sorry to admit that I was disappointed and let down for a number of reasons.

Pros They make fried chicken and fish Staff seem friendly

Cons Parking is limited! There are 2 spot in their parking lot for regular drivers and one for handicapped. There were orange cones blocking the street parking on side of restaurant. Very frustrating to drive around and around for a place to park with any guidance on website or parking lot.

Greasy-When I entered I was immediately hit with the smell of grease. I realize they fry food, but so do a lot of restaurants. When I left and got in my car, I could smell the grease scent in my clothing.

Bakery section-completely empty. Maybe they have discontinued making baked items? The entire bakery case was empty. So we're cake plates on top of case and the ice cream section. Again-disappointing.

Customer Service-my server was kind, but needed more training. Not just my server, but the other one as well. Another party was seated before me and they had to go up to their server and my server seeking help several times. The two servers were chatting together and then a friend came in and they ignored us altogether and talked with their friend. I had requested a mimosa, but I didnt get it because th server left outside with the friend and I still didnt have my drink order she was supposed to fill. When my server came back, she asked did the other giel get my mimosa and I told her, "no". She apologized but didn't make an effort to fix. Basic things like extra napkins and how to be attentive are severely lacking here. The customer service here is better suited for an establishment that is serving carryout only.

Food- I wanted the red velvet waffle but was told they were out. Asked for a mojito mimosa-also not available. Sigh. And typical. Their menu on online says they serve catfish. The menu is restaurant says they serve swai and whiting, not catfish. I didn't want either of these and this should be corrected.

I walked in assuming this would be a place I would visit with friends, but sadly I would not recommend. In fact, the other party seats by me was from out of town and I gave them better recommendations because I didnt want them to think this was the kind of hospitality that is custom in...

I wanted to like this place so bad because I love supporting independent businesses and the owner was so welcoming and nice. However, we had family in town and wanted to eat together and have a nice time. We were not able to sit as a family due to lack of seating. Pricing was unclear, so I was charged for things I was unaware of or that I didn't understand due to lack of menus & explanation. There was no flexibility in choice b/c it was Sunday, and apparently the only option was what was on the buffets (which was random and very limited food choices) or chicken & waffles (from menu). The food was underwhelming for the price. The man performing live entertainment was talented & friendly and that was a nice enjoyable touch. However our experience was rounded off by us wanting a momento before leaving and wanted to take a family photo, as we paid our tickets at the table, only to be told they had a line waiting and we could take photos outside as they verbally pushed us out the door, though we were only still at the table to finish paying for this uneventful experience we over paid for🤔 All that to say, I want them to succeed, but I don't see myself coming back or referring them to anyone else unless some major changes have been made in space, presentation, and staff...

Went here for a quick waffle. Sat at the bar. The service was AWFUL. The one server wouldn't even acknowledge me (but when it came time for closing out my bill she sure did lol), and the one who actually took my order (a manager, I presumed) was running around like a chicken without a head. The musician there was the one who gave me a menu (he was on a break or something I guess, but went back onstage). The mgr "took" my order and I say that bc the cook came out and ASKED ME what my order was, so she probably forgot to even put it in. Well, HE served me (asked me what I'd like to drink bc yeah, they didn't even bother, the server or mgr) and I would've tipped HIM and ONLY HIM. While I was there, a couple came in and ordered a mimosa to split (lol), and the mgr made sure to get THEIR order and greet them and chat w/them and all that. They left and in their place, some woman came in who they were VERY attentive to and she got their attention on my behalf for the bill. She and I chatted and she could see the lackluster service they made sure to give me. I was going to bring my family here, but not anymore....
