I came here on a Sunday, just looking for something vegan to eat with my boyfriend. I saw this place had vegan options, so I figured, why not? Best decision. They have a separate physical vegetarian menu, with explicit vegan suggestions listed:) It may need to be requested. I ordered a vegan carnitas bowl on a bed of rice/lettuce, along with chips and green sauce, and sat down outside. It was a beautiful day, the vibes were so chill at this place, and my food was delicious. The chips and sauce came out first. They were thick, crunchy, fried to perfection, and the sauce really surprised me. It was spicy, just like salsa, but the texture was essentially whipped to perfection. Before I knew it, the bowl arrived. It was a heavenly mix of rice, lettuce, beans, a little bit of corn, all paired with well-seasoned jackfruit carnitas. I really liked the texture and flavor of the rice, especially. Overall, I would say I found a new little gem. My boyfriend and I kept bringing up the relaxing atmosphere, exceptional service, and genuine goodness of the food. We hope to be back again soon to try the...
Read moreI created a reminder in my phone to write this because Tio Fun is THAT great. It's obvious they spent a lot of time testing recipes. You can get a more complicated order (like a carnita melt or torta de chilaquiles) or you can keep it simple with tacos. I appreciate a taco place that has sauces as an option, but doesn't load up their street tacos with a thousand toppings just to make them stand out. Tio Fun tacos are just cilantro and onion, and delicious meats (or vegan jackfruit!) and don't need a bunch of stuff added to make them delicious. Big fan of that! They also have frozen margaritas that are sweet but not overly sweet like some other places. I have a feeling this patio is going to be busy and fun with neighborhood people as soon as the weather turns a little less chilly. Big fan!...
Read moreI got a little over stimulated by how good the tacos smelled coming out of the kitchen and wolfed down the carnitas taco before I thought to take a picture of it. The carnitas was perfect, so soft and tender, with the fat giving the meat a warm, savory accent. The steak, likewise, was amazing. It was well done but held so much flavor which is so rare to find in street tacos, too many overcooked the steak. Flour tortillas are… sublime. So warm, flowery, without a hint of dryness and no crumble. The green mild salsa had a nice little kick to it and you can’t go wrong with the homemade chips, which have the perfect crunch and perfect amount of salt, and salsa. The interior is charming, great music at Christmas time, without a sense of indulgence or pretense. Perfect, that’s what...
