DeRocco's Wiches Bagels and Brew — Restaurant in Naugatuck

DeRoccos used to be my favorite breakfast sandwich go to spot whenever I was in the area, but not any longer. I’m not sure if the owner/cook has anger issues, or just believes that its okay to be rude to customers, but that was my experience today. I ordered the paizan sandwich with the sausage on the side, which I have done in the past, and after paying for my order, the owner proceeds to come over to me, aggressively ask why I would think it was okay to change a menu item, and then when I try to explain that I didn’t know menu items couldn't be changed, he proceeds to question why I want the sausage on the side in the first place. I then let him know that I don’t eat meat, but I give the sausage to my dogs as a treat, and I get this response, “I’m not going to make this sandwich any differently just because you like to give the sausage to your dogs”. At this point, I’m just stressed and uncomfortable that this weird situation is even occurring, and he’s still staring at me, shaking his head, that I then offer to just get another sandwich, and by the time I get home, I now realize I’m short the difference because my original sandwich choice cost more than what I somehow got bullied into ordering. The whole experience was like the twilight zone, and I truly hope that this was a one off and he was just having a bad day, but that is still not an excuse for him to act like that to someone he doesn't even know and who was nothing but respectful the entire exchange. I will never recommend them again, and I’ll just go to Ami’s for bagels...

"Made Fresh Daily" Everyone needs to find this hidden gem. DeRocco's Wiches, Bagels and Brew is set in a residential neighborhood in Naugatuck, CT. The people in that neighborhood are very lucky to have the DeRocco family's restaurant in the area. I was talking with the owner, Frank DeRocco, and he let me know that they make everything fresh daily. Chicken salad, tuna salad, flavored aiolis, well over a dozen cream cheese spreads and more are all made frequently to ensure freshness. They have 16 different bagels to choose from, as well as hard rolls and wraps for their many "Signature Sangwiches". I had an Everything Bagel with the Bacon Honey Habanero cream cheese spread. It was so addictively delicious that I ended up having a second one. Amazing, Amazing cream cheese spread made by Frank and his family. I've also had the Pastrami, Egg and Cheese. Two fried eggs freshly cooked with pastrami and melted cheese piled on this delicious egg sandwich. The family is friendly and their restaurant is nice and clean. Type in 157 Quinn St. Naugatuck, CT. First of all, I just want to say I love coming here. I've been a returning customer since you guys opened, but today I left disappointed. Sat there for over 20 minutes while at least 7 people got called for their order after I ordered mine. For two people listening for my name & in a rush, I know it wasn't called. I get mistakes happen, but maybe you guys should come up with a system that makes sure if an order is placed & finished the name gets called again (or at all) within 5 minutes of it being finished. I'm not going to get to enjoy eating breakfast with my boyfriend now - he was the one in the rush. When we could have gone anywhere but chose your business. So, I think it's pretty unfair that we had to wait that long & I had to ask if our order was done...but that doesn't make me not want to return. I want to return, I just didn't appreciate this transaction & I hope it gives you guys something to consider...
